Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

i believe rabiz simply means "slang".... armenians have created an entire persona based around this word. shirtless street squatters who speak a language that nobody understands other than them.

tata is not rabiz at all.
& although as a singer, he's alright, but nothing particularly special... but anybody who calls his music "hasarag" has no idea what they're talking about.

once again, this brings us back to the question of "musical merit". how much musicality is happening in tata's music? the musicians in that band are ALL very learned musicians. they've each got successful personal careers outside of tata's band & they work unbelievably well together. they are the type of band which displays their talents more through arrangement than through improvisation. although they are all amazing improvisers, that dude PROF is an even better arranger, so thats their trip. harout pamboukjian's band, on the other hand, is more about improv. they are what i like to call a "gium-pat" kind of band. ("gium" with a hard "g"... like the sound effects.. "gium" & "pat") & there is hardly any set arrangement in their music. therefore, it's musically simpler than tata's band, but harout's band definitely grooves harder & i love them both.

Harouts band kicks voor!!! I don't think there is a better keyboardist in that genre than Araig, and Avo kicks as$ too!!! the band has been together for so long, they have the best chemistry. They love to play, party and bring energy to the crowd. True entertainers.

              My vote

Note that some of the singers whose style I like but who haven't made so many albums have got lower grades than they deserve, while some of the singers whose style I don't like but who have made many albums and thus have had one or more "hits" have got higher grades than they deserve.

              Adiss Harmandyan - 1
              Aram Asatryan - 1

              Jora Dilbarian - 5
              Karen Arzumanian - 5
Andy - 8 (his music is not Armenian, though)
Grisha Aghakhanyan - 3 (more like entertainment than music)
              Nersik Ispiryan - 6
              Joseph Krikorian - 7
              Babin Boghosyan - 6

spiral: Yes, the guy you were talking about is probably Romik. He whines but sings in Armenian. Like many other Armenian singers he has some covers on Turkish songs, and in one song he even sings a few lines in Turkish. Ironically, he looks Turkish too!

Oh, and "rabiz" is another word for rubbish!

                Btw, I forgot one singer:

                Paul Baghdadlian - 5

all those who underestimate adiss & instead give high scores to other "pioneers" have never heard his old records.

                  i myself discovered this recently:

                  - paul's "sev acher" was recorded by adiss in the early 70s.
                  - harout's "gyanki karousel", also recorded by adiss in the early 70s.
                  - harout's "yerker, yerker". sounds frighteningly similar to an adiss tune, also from the early 70s, called "varter, varter", with exactly the same tune & pretty much the same lyrics, except it's "varter" instead of "yerker"

there are others i cant think of right now, but i believe i've made my point

(sev acher of all songs!!! it's such a 'paul' song, yet adiss recorded it before paul had even recorded his first album!)

Well, to be honest I haven't heard too much from Adiss. A few songs or so.

                    Btw, I forgot Karnig Sarkissian:

                    Karnig - 4

Im just gonna make osmething clear:
Tata, Aram Asatryan they are not rabiz, JESUS.
There is HUMONGUS difference between rabiz and haykakan music.
Rabiz are considered the list of singers that ill mention right now and ppl who sound similar to them:
                      Tigran Jamkochian
                      Tatul
                      Spitaktsi Hayko
                      Armen Aloyan
and all the sorts of singers who do the "namaz" thing during their singing.

As far about my favorite singers: HAROUT all the way!!!!!!!!!!!! the TZAX one.
