i believe rabiz simply means "slang".... armenians have created an entire persona based around this word. shirtless street squatters who speak a language that nobody understands other than them.
tata is not rabiz at all.
& although as a singer, he's alright, but nothing particularly special... but anybody who calls his music "hasarag" has no idea what they're talking about.
once again, this brings us back to the question of "musical merit". how much musicality is happening in tata's music? the musicians in that band are ALL very learned musicians. they've each got successful personal careers outside of tata's band & they work unbelievably well together. they are the type of band which displays their talents more through arrangement than through improvisation. although they are all amazing improvisers, that dude PROF is an even better arranger, so thats their trip. harout pamboukjian's band, on the other hand, is more about improv. they are what i like to call a "gium-pat" kind of band. ("gium" with a hard "g"... like the sound effects.. "gium" & "pat") & there is hardly any set arrangement in their music. therefore, it's musically simpler than tata's band, but harout's band definitely grooves harder & i love them both.
