Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

I can not help but still disagree with you. It is a matter of probability. I can talk about the Sun being powered by a giant penis but that does not make it true. It only becomes a probability.

There is no probability. We are not talking about the existence of God pragmatically. We are talking only of his existence in the understanding. If he didnt exist in the understanding, then we wouldnt be even having this conversation right now.

Even the sun being powered by a penis (thats kind of weird but...ok). It exists in the understanding. So therefore, I can not be a sun-powered-penis atheist, because I have thought about it.

If you want me to argue with you about the existence of God in the understanding AND existence in the reality, I will gladly do so. I will use pragmatic reasoning, as experience only accounts for anectodal evidence.

Yeah, I'm filled with all sorts of random knowledge. I try to be knowledgable about certain things if I am going to argue them... Anyway, there's another example of just believing. That the people of the Church of Satan have speculated what he might have meant when he said that, but they don't question it too much more than that. They just let it be, because thats the way Lavey wanted it, to just be left alone. Interesting thing the mind of people and how it works. It's incredible really. Curiosity killed the cat, but we're still alive because he have the ability to just let things be. Let it be, let it beeeeee... Yeah, just like the Beatles said it.

You know what surfer dude, you could have at least found a better example of a stained glass window. Like one that doesn't look like it's depicting a priest making a little boy do dirty things. lol.

You are picking and chosing how you want to use the word "existence." Yes, one may interpret pragmatism in such a way that makes disbelief an impossibility. But this is in reference to the relativity amongst ideas. Atheism is a comment on reality. And pragmatism is very supportive of it in the sense that man created God instead of vice-versa.

                Random knowledge is good.

This is true but I see a difference between a man-made idea and an idea that allegedly made man. Something man-made can be guaranteed to have a purpose because it had a creator. In the macro sense, from my point of view, we do not have a purpose because we are governed by entropy.

Ok, then if you do believe we don't have a purpose, what keeps you going? Why do you wake up every morning and do the things you do? Are you living completely for yourself? To do things that cause you enjoyment, excitement, happiness....?

Well, first of all, it is unfortunate but as animals we have the instinct of self preservation. So we have the intelligence to question significance but it is difficult to rise against it because of instinct.

What keeps me going? Sheesh. Art, fantasy, and the desire to love and be loved. And the fact that I won't kill myself because I don't have the guts and because I don't want to hurt the people in my life that do in fact love me unconditionally.

All my reasons are down here.

                      ...

And God said, 'Let there be light' and there was light, but the Electricity Board said he would have to wait until Thursday to be connected.

In my opinion, more people are driven insane through religious hysteria than by drinking alcohol
...and I guess the fact that I believe
Gods are fragile things - they may be killed by a whiff of science or a dose of common sense - pretty much explains my opinion on this matter...
