I brought up the Swiss to illustrate their opposition to outsiders. You're talking about something completely different.

Technological advances are turning the world into a giant unified block, it's only natural for people to want to control that block. Just like people wanted to control nations/continents in the past. Making sure the future Globalized world is free is a lot more important than trying to make sure there isn't anyone at the Globalized top or trying to make sure Globalization doesn't happen at all.

It is important. As long as people exist who want to take away the rights of others because they think there's an invisible man in the sky with self esteem issues that cares about the silly and worldly affairs of the human species, we're going to have to keep having discussions on this matter.

You think their opposition to outsiders has nothing to do with their crimes of the past?

You seem to support globalization yet can't seem to connect why people's rights are being taken away. That's what control is about. That is why people have fought to the death in the past for their freedom. It has everything to do with big brother is watching and not the invisible man in the sky watching.

No, I think it has more to do with making sure they don't turn into the next London or Berlin when it comes to a Muslim presence.

It's not that I support Globalization, It's that I feel it is inevitable and that it is a much better idea to make sure the future Globalized world is free than to try and make sure Globalization doesn't happen at all. Most everybody who is against Globalization thinks it's an automatic death sentence for freedom, which I simply don't see as true.

The discussion on God and Religious people trying to take away rights is a separate issue. I'm not saying Globalization has anything to do with them.

It's hard to explain, there is this strange way that people act. Maybe too much emphasis on individualism. I know people are way too influenced by the media since everyone is usually talking about what they saw on TV or heard on the radio. Also, since I'm always dealing with the border/customs, etc.... I get the full effect of "national security". Everybody that isn't American is considered a terrorist. The Canadian customs do the same thing.... for a world that's becoming more and more globalized, it's strange that the walls are getting higher instead of being knocked down.
I agree a few years ago you could smile on passports and laugh with the customs people, now...you have to look like a drug addict or someone who appears to have never done anything interesting in their entire life.
