i dont know what kind of retards say "etam" but ive never heard anybody (without a lisp) say it like that.

the word is ertal. with a "yech" so its pronounced "yertal".

it IS in the dictionnary, so whoever is bothered by the word "yertal" needs to brush up their OWN armenian speaking. i hate it when some stanzees mock our arevmdahye dialect, claiming its "wrong" & saying we dont speak "proper" armenian.... i guess that means "proper" armenian is SUPPOSED to be infested with russian words...

furthermore, the vast majority of these crippled armenian expressions u guys have enumerated as annoying are completely specific to the arevELahye dialect:

what the hell do xi, xo, denam, vobshe & poka mean anyway?!?!?!? those are absolutely NOT armenian words.

Just for the record, I said I loathe the word "etam", and not the word from which it was derived - "yertam". Etam just sounds so...yyyyeeeccchhhh!!!

people need to be less judgmental! no one speaks PURE g'rakan! and we have all been separated from one another due to history and politics...i hear some gasp for air when they hear 'hitzun' rather than 'hissun'...just relax already! unless you speak and read and understand g'rabar, you're not that much better off than the general population (this excludes hardcore gyughatsi dialect!)

Bruin, no one claimed that they speak pure, grakan Hayeren. Very few people that I know do. This is the result of our Armenian fate. However, this thread is about words that annoy the piss out of us, hence my response.
