I understand Jahnaam’s point of view,
I think that one of the things Armenians do wrong, is that we always keep our issues, our interests, our causes, , our celebrations, or commemorations, our everything, amongst us only.. It's very important to include other cultures into our cultural affairs to increase awareness, as to who we are, where we come from...
We live in these cities where there are huge Armenian communities such as Hollywood, Glendale, or North Hollywood, and we think that oh, everyone knows who Armenians are, but if you drive an hour away from these areas, and ask someone about Armenians, they’re completely clueless. They have noo idea who armenians are, or where armenia is located on the map, or anything about us what-so-ever.
an example: April 24th. Before the March in little Armenia, organized by the UAS, every year Armenians would gather at Montebello, by the yeghern monument. We were not seen nor heard much. But with the March in Little Armenia, we got way more news coverage, and the "otars" actually see all these people outside marching, and yelling, which actually triggers interest in them as to what the cause is, and many who hear about it, often side with us in the issue. 'Strength in numbers'
Back to the topic, though we should be more open to other cultures, and ethnicities, etc... I think that this site is more of a place all Armenians can come together, to discuss issues concerning US, or one’s we have in common. It's more of a private cultural thing. And if it becomes more open to other people(s), it’s going to drive our people away.
