Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

The gasoline in california is somewhat different than other places due to the more strict emissions/air quality laws (e.g. have you seen the "NO MTBE" stickers at the pumps?) ... that's one of the reasons why the prices are higher and also why it tends to jump much more in Cali when there's a shortage ... because CA gas supply is more limited than other places.

This website has a pretty good description of what you pay for when you buy gas and also differences in California.

Here in WI, they seem to add a bunch of ethanol to the gas in the winter. You can actually smell the difference when warming up your car in the morning!

I see. I didn't there could be that large of a difference due to that. Percentage-wise it's a lot more expensive.

LA air has gotten MUCH MUCH better in the last 10 years or so. I remember when we first got there in 91, you could actually see and chew the air most days in the mornings. We would get these "high smog" alerts on the news for people with asthma or other respiratory conditions.

But recently, you almost never get those alerts ... and the air just seems so much better. I think one big reason for that is all the emission restrictions and laws put on newer cars ... and those smog checks we have to do every couple of years on older cars actually work it seems!

Now I don't know how scientifically true my above statements are ... but it just seems to me the air has gotten much better.

i was watching bowling for colombine and when micheal moore was in LA (as a joke he asked a cop) "hey why dont you arrest someone for polluting the air, because i can see the hollywood sign from here because of the smog" and of cource the police ignored him, but the point was well taken...

the big corporations who own everything, who are for example demolishing many historic sites in the city of Pasadena, are responsible for MOST of the smog emmission that has caused the pollution, but the way the government resloved it was to place the burden on the average people, who hardly cause any of the pollution...

maybe the fact that big corporations lobby the government and bribe them had some effect... after all we the people haven't been running the government as we should have since reagon came into office...

THANKS to the republican party for shifting the burden of paying for the mess the corporations made on the poorest among us...

the Republican slogan should be " we take from the poor to give to the rich, after all the poor dont know what to do with money anyway, if they did, then GOD would've made them rich, just like us"

What's more worse than a lefty liberal environmentalist egalitarian is one who actually believes the bromide that Democrats are better than Republicans.

Jesus, Nune, are things really that simple in your world? You're like the medieval catholic that attributed every bad occurance in her life to the influence of Satan.

things arent that simple, but i am damn good at summarizing them for simple people...

and anonymouse you know whats worse, YOU... but thats ok, thats whats great about me, i will always make sure the people's voices are heard (which includes yours), but its just too bad that you wouldnt do the same... i will make sure that the average person is heard (that we know what the corporations are up to)... but you wont because all you care about is yourself... and my guess is that all the corporations care about are themselves too... so you have more in commen with them then it is apperant... i dont just care about myself, i care about the well being of human kind... human rights, human dignity, etc... i guess thats my EUROPEAN PART! and my armenian part cares deeply about armenian issues... and since you are armenian i care about you more...

i guess making sense is NOT one of anony's great qualities... thats ok, remember he is good looking...
