Listen, will you take the GRE for me and apply to grad school? You did it once and seem to have come out of it unscathed. I should have stuck my applications in when you were doing yours. I bet with all you had to do you might not have noticed. lol.

p.s. If I had to write a quick resume here I wouldn't be able to, I don't even remember anymore everywhere I've worked. I hope I kept a copy of it somewhere.

Ugh, math. How I hate math. Who can I sleep with to pass the stupid math section without having to actually take it. How happy am I that there is a writing section now instead of that analytical one (fun as it is, it's still math-y).

All my jobs since freshman year of college, except for working at Express and at the Vet clinic, ended up on my resume because I worked in labs that got papers published, so I tried to milk that for all it was worth. Now if I could only get one that has my name on it to be published.

The math is algebra and geometry. The trick is being able to apply learnings by recognizing short cuts. You can sit there and calculate each, but you'd never finish.

I know several people who scored in the 700s whose intelligence I'm not particularly impressed with.
So, you who I am impressed by, should do quite well.

Now if I could only get one that has my name on it to be published.

I've got one study we're finishing up... well, I'm doing the analyses, otherwise it's done. If that turns out well, we'll submit it.
I was planning on turning my thesis into a manuscript as well, but I may not now. Not as it is anyway. I had to collapse one of my IVs because of subject pool problems, so it's not the full design I wanted.

GRE math is exactly the same as SAT math! There is NO difference at all. Basically, they don't expect you to learn any math in college

I kicked ass on math but kicked even more ass on the logic/analytical part (99%). English .. eh ... well, let's not go there

It's absolutely not the same. You can use calculators for SAT, there isn't anything on the GRE that requires any real calculations on the GRE.

I forgot my calculator for the SAT. Still scored a 760 on the math. 800 on English. Those tests are pretty worthless if you ask me. Considering how high I scored, and how poorly I've done in college at times nonetheless, the SAT didn't seem to have much predictive power.

the gre and gmat are stupid and worthless... basically if you get the first question right you get a harder question thats worth more points, if you get it wrong you get a simpler question thats worth less points... eventually if you are not able to answer their stupid meaningless questions you get easier questions and you score less... if you get the correct answer for the first 10 you will get a higher score... so if you are "smart" you will get a ridiculasly high score and if you are "not" then you will get a very very low score...

its insane to think that if you are given 30 questions and if you get 25 correct (just not eht first 25 but the last 25) you will get a LOW score... but if you get 15 correct and it was the first 15 then you will get a VERY HIGH score...

the SATs were nothing... considering the fact that you are taking a test that is actually being graded in a normal fashion and you are being testing on subjects that you JUST learned, it was too easy... anywho there is very big difference between the SATs and any grad school exam including the GRE GMAT the LSAT or the MCAT...

They don't have much predictive power... I think I remember something like 12% for the GRE.
They just haven't thought of anything better and so, they'll take 12% over nothing.

Hopefully, when combined with other stuff (gpa, letters of rec, etc) it's better than that.
