I've never had this drink in the States.
      Skhara,
You can buy kefir from Jons if you live in Southern California. They sell the lifeway brand. If you're not near a Jons supermarket, then you may want to check out some of the national super markets as I have heard that some of them have started carrying it also.

Also, as far as health benefits, you are correct. I was actually very surprised to see kefir even mentioned in a popular health book that came out a few years ago called SuperFoods Rx: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/006...lance&n=283155

I think it is gaining popularity in the States slowly.

I'm living in Wisconsin. I've never heard of Jons so I don't think there are any around. However, I may have found a store nearby that carries it -- its a natural foods store. I'll check it out.

Also, in that link, they screwed up on the history of kefir. It was discovered in the Northern Caucasus, not Balkans. I guess Chechens invented it, and Russians adopted it.

            Re: Kefir

I found some in the store. It wasn't like Soviet kefir, it was too thick, they put dry milk in the ingredients. Soviet kefir is much better. And much cheaper too.

Yes you are kind sage. In fact, it's not unreasonable to state that if I were female, I'd find your musky looks quite attractive.

                  karo, you seem nutritionally deprived.

Other than that, there's hope. Do not fret.

ok, it's not exactly as good as mouse's compliment, but still helps. thanks so much. Would you like to sponsor me for only $1.45 a day (less than the price of tompon nunchuks a day), so that I can become less malnutritioned.
