I hate time. I hate how little there is of it. I hate how fast it goes. If time were suddenly to materialize as a human, I would turn into a homicidal maniac proceeding to gouge time's eyes out and chopping off its limbs one by one. I would laugh in a maniacal way and then I would proceed to cannibalize time. Thank you.

I have so much to do and never enough time to do it in (and still maintain my sanity).

How do you cope with your workload? I think you're far enough along in your program that your coursework is probably done, but I'm having a hard time keeping up with mine and finding the time to be productive researchwise.

I just don't feel very motivated either. I feel like I'll never be done.

i hate my roomate getting coked up and passing out at 7 in the morning and sleeping the whole day, i cant even spend some time with my girl in my own room. i hate the fact that i started smoking cigarretes, i hate the fact that i dont have a job right now and have to rely on my parents for money, i hate teachers that make going to class mandatory, like you said, its my money, let me do what i want. I have an 8:05 Statistics class i never go to just because its way too damn early and on the other side of campus and yet i do my reading and have a A- in the class so far having attended about 5 classes all semester. I hate people that say Armenia is in Asia(were european, go f'ck yourself). i hate xxxxty Armenian girls. Im angry im in this country and not where my ancestors have lived for thousands of years. people that c0ckblock should go to hell and take it up the a$$ from the devil every morning bright and early. whoever decided making the drinking age 21 was a good idea is a f'ing prude moron. people that want to outlaw abortion and birth control should go fist themselves, just because you dont get laid, dont be angry at everyone else. i hate meatheads who cant get a girl for their life and think its interesting to start a fight when your with female friends. i want to choke the crap out of Aliev for the crap he talks, i want to get the army together and just shut those bastards up already, hell take a couple of oilfields it couldnt hurt. I hate having the thickest goddamn hair this side of the universe and having to spend so much time on it.

I know why people stereotype. It's just that it gets annoying. I know a lot of people, who for no reason, put the person in front of down. I never say something that will hurt the person I'm with, because I know I wouldn't want that to happen to me. And if someone is talking about a subject which makes someone else feel bad, I always change the subject or do something so that ONE person won't feel bad. Because I wish people would do that for ME sometimes.



Not all of them.

People (the younger they are, the more true) are too concerned with making themselves look good to care about other people. They think that by putting other people down or by making others feel bad, stupid, etc that they somehow become less of a socially inept idiot.
What are you gonna do? You do what you know is right and those who aren't like those inconsiderate people will appreciate it.

Damn girlie, don't worry, you're right on schedule as far as the emotions you're going through. I've been done with classes for 2 years now and I think I'm a year and a half from defending, but I still feel like the date of the defense is millions of lightyears away.

There'll be some dark moments when you're confused technically, confused academically, confused career-wise, scared financially (getting fired ), and worried about your timeline. The light will invariably come ... I hope . Time will certainly still be a major pain in the ass though.

Propose? Ha! I'll still be working on coursework for at least 2 more years. I could be pretty much done with that at the end of year 2, but I have the damn law classes to take too. I'm going to try finish up in 4 years, but it's very possible that it'll take 5. It's my first year, so I've got a ways to go before thinking about proposals.

I'm thinking I'll stay for 5 because although I could finish the requirements (I hope), I don't think 4 years would give me enough time to get some publications out so I can get an academic position when I'm done. I'm not sure if it's the same way in CS, but in psych most journals take months (close to 6 on average) to get back to you on your submission. Most of the time there's a revision required and that's several more months to get feedback on that. If it's accepted, it's not always in the next publication of that journal (which is usually quarterly anyway). So, on the shorter side, it can take a year and you can't submit to multiple journals at the same time.

I just feel like it's not as laid back as it could be for grad school. Too many frequent assignments and things and they tend to be inflexible on when they're due.
Other students' advice has been that I'm actually reading what's assigned instead of skimming it and that's what's taking too long. How can you skim something unfamilar and understand it? I'm not just trying to get a degree. I need to be able to teach some of these classes. I don't understand how not doing the reading will help with that.
