Don't use a straw... I remember specifically being told not to do that. I think you'll prevent it from healing or something. The wound needs to clot and heal. So when you're washing, rinsing, whatever... avoid sucking because you'll suck out the forming blood clot.
He was a horrible dentist after all...I was NEVER told not to use a straw (although I never asked... )
Had both my wisdom teeth taken out at the same time, got some stitches too. the pain was unbearable, had to be on painkillers for the next 4 days. Couldn't eat much either.
But it'll get better.
I didn't need to take my stitches out, as they disolved.
Anyway, my face is getting more and more swollen. Only on the right side. And it's getting worse, not better. The pain dies down for like 30 minutes, but then hits me back and lasts a few hours. Also, is it possible that my teeth shifted because of the wisdom teeth? It honestly feels like it did!
You should be fine within 3 days...and wow I can't believe they didn't put you to sleep...I had all 4 of mine removed. Do you have a fat face yet? hahaha
I wouldn't have allowed them to not put me to sleep, but when I found out literally the last minute, I was like, "What can I do?" He just gave me the numb shots, 4 of them. It wasn't as bad as people made it out to be. Plus, I was awake. Just a lot of pressure. One or two of them did hurt a little bit. Picturing him just slicing the gum, and yanking the tooth out, bothered me.
I got about 6 injections LOL my face was numb for good 8 hours hahaha
yea even if it doesn't hurt, just the sound of the equipment and watching what he is about to put in your mouth is enough. I even hate the sound of the suction thing.
I wouldn't have allowed them to not put me to sleep, but when I found out literally the last minute, I was like, "What can I do?"..
hehehe...
I hope you realize that anaesthesia has its own risks and they only use it to speed up things at their end (hence make more money).
Next time...if somebody wants to put you under, you should RESIST it..and not the other way around.
Having been put out wouldn't have lessened your current pain either...
Yeah, it's gonna hurt. My jaw was throbbing for 2 days. It wasn't pleasant and I just tried to sleep as much as possible.
I do have a pretty high tolerance for pain though, but everyone else that has posted survived their pain too. Wuss!
Just avoid talking, moving your jaw too much, etc... maybe call up your cousin and see if he's got anything that'll help you feel better.
Oh wow and the description of the procedure. Imagining him cutting your gum isn't bad at all. My experience, IMO, was way worse. Mine were impacted so he had to break the teeth into pieces to get them out! I could hear him breaking my teeth. And not just the soundwaves to my ears. I could "hear" it through my jaw/head whatever (like when you eat something crunchy and it sounds like everyone around you can hear it). It was pretty scary.
