Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!


2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

    Rental rates

    I am curiouse as to what the rent charges are to those of you who live in apartment buildings. The rent here is ridiculously high. A bachelor apartment downtown in the city I live in can cost as high as $1,000.00 per month. One bedrooms? A sky rocketing $ 1,200.00 and higher. I have been renting rooms in other peoples homes since I was 18. Now I have a bachelor apartment of my own, and am paying $700.00 per month. My power only comes to about $30.00 as I dont have cable or any access to the internet. I think that the reason why my apartment is so cheap is because of the location as well. Which has its pros and cons as well. I live above where I work, but because it is in the middle of downtown I have to deal with late night partiers and drunks walking home at 2:00 in the morning. What is the atmosphere in your neighbourhood and are you pleased with your rental fees?

    why dont you move out of the place?

      My tiny one bedroom is 460 which is more expensive than most that size becuase it's in a large "luxury" complex. I won't say what city, but believe me, the reason why it's so cheap is because no one wants to live here.

          How big is yellowknife? Is it a college town?
          I live in Shithole, New Mexico; population 9000. My rent: 2 bedroom apartment for 400$.

                Our population is roughly 18773. Give or take a few. It used to be an old miner town but has developed tremendously, especially with the diamond mines. It expanded our economy.

                  I'm paying $600 for a room...and I don't even have my own bathroom...here in the Bay Area, everything is ridiculously expensive. When I was living with my ex, we were renting a descent-sized 1 bedroom apt. for $1000, but that was cheap because it was far from downtown...my brother is renting in Sao Paulo and he has a 3 bedroom in an excellent part of the city...he pays $300 (US dollars) a month...I know there is no comparison, but the minimum wage out there is about $150 (US) a month, so $300 for a single family home is really cheap...

                  PS: I was even considering asking for a discount on my rent, since I'm the only sane person in this house...the other 5 roommates are all foreigners who are often calling each other names in mandarim...it's actually hilarious when they do that...oh yeah, and there is also a Brazilian guy...who happens to be an xxxxxxx (no news there...all of them are)

                    My sister is paying $425 in Atlanta for a two bedroom dump in the GTech area. That's how much I paid in '96 for one room so she found a relative anomaly. Atlanta prices are ridiculous but not as bad as Cali where I'm headed to next. San Fran is CRAZY and LA doesn't seem much better. Still in these cities the general standard of living is higher and you supposedly make more which helps balance it out (read yeah right). Here's something totally nutz ... my sister lived in SoHo NY, NY for several years. She was paying $1,350 for a 450sqft "apartment". You could go to the bathroom and brush your teeth at the same time, then roll into your shower. Have fun with that ...
