Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!


2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

        collected and published in 20 volumes.

        in Venice, Italy. He lives in Ontario, Canada and writes in
        Armenian and English and has published over 20 books of his
        works. He has translated works from Armenian writers, such as
        Grigor Zohrab, Zabel Yessayan, and Kostan Zarian into English.

And which part of ANY of my posts suggested that I KNOW BETTER? I challenged your views ... I didn't laugh at you or try to degrade you or your views in any way. Please don't get the wrong idea.

            I like the structure of ara's post, it starts with a familiar, easily understandable example (Wall Street gangsters), then shows how peoples' minds support such tyrannical structures (referring to his fellow Armenians of course), reminds us again of the American example of false promises (a phenomenon that is nowhere near exclusively American), reminds us how Armenians seek to be blameless...

            It's just his central message that until we recognize the terms of the world and stop blaming someone else for our troubles, our not so virtuous leaders will manipulate us through our surface differences and lead us to satisfy their own whims, ultimately leading to the worst possible tyranny, the kind where we see nothing amiss with our situation.
            J, many misunderstand him. Like I said, he tries to say lots of things with one sentence. I'm afraid that doesn't always heed good results when OVERDONE. This writing style is interesting but hard to understand on many occasions. The overall message is clear to everyone but when you start going into details, many different ideas popup ... many random ideas somehow related to the subject. Each of those ideas though belong to a much broader discussion and when people ask a question say related to just ONE of them ... like one related to Armenians for example ... Mr. B doesn't reply! That's why I'm saying, let's go step by step so we can all understand and not MISUNDERSTAND everthing being presented and get the chance to ask questions, discuss these issues, and get good answers. This is my humble advice because I've heard a lot of people criticize him. I mean, at times, he says one thing but means something completely different and people start misunderstanding him. It's natural. I hoped to let him know so we couldall have more interesting discussions and why not, learn something along the way and all I got is a message politely saying that I'm a smart ass and should learn to think for myself, lol!

            I do think for myself ... I simply don't ignore the world while I'm at it.....

              Saco, I don't have answers for all of the points you're questioning. But as for Baliozian's style, he is not a casual forum member sending posts whenever he sees an interesting thread. He is a writer and sharing his work with us here. You can not send a letter to Tolstoy and tell him to write shorter as more people will be able to read him.
              Don't you see that we can't expect to alter his style or want him to discuss every line of his work with us?

                I think Ara sometimes hits and sometimes misses, at his age it is probably too late to tell him when he misses, because he's too set in hes ways.It would be nice though, to tell him when he connects.I personally think at the very least hes a throw back to those old Ottoman wall calenders, that inform you of old wisdom and idioms he probably grew up reading like me

                      Kardesh, that's why I asked, is this a diary or something? No reply as usual. When he replied, I thought we were sharing ideas already and have a discussion. Now I guess we're back to diary mode.

                      And I wasn't discussing EVERY line, I challenged a few views and didn't get proper answers (for some reason). If Ara just wants to fill this thread with his works then let him do so but let him let us know that he isn't going to be answering questions or anything like that properly. But if he wants our views and will be answering then I'm afraid tactics are going to have to change a bit.
