That is exactly my point. Environmentalists imply that somehow we are outside of nature, we are not. Furthermore, what am I doing to nature? What are capitalists doing to nature?

By the way, talking of hybrids, I found the following article today pretty interesting. Junk science or not, I think their criteria for evaluating energy costs is interesting. And I certainly don't think simply looking at fuel consumption numbers is a wise way to compare vehicle choices Also it seems to me a lot of greenies are advocating the use of electric vehicles (not hybrids) and looking down on everyone else that drives gasoline engines, claiming they are "cleaner". This, while the whole time we are burning massive amounts of coal to charge up their batteries.

Wouldn't it be great to have a 'Jeep' that is ecofriendly and doesn't support war? Maybe we can all work towards that goal. I'd love to see a hybrid Jeep (or any car, for that matter) that can run on any mix of alternative fuels. Biodiesel isn’t ‘the’ answer—but one of many diverse answers for the 'end of oil.' We are still going to need to plan the same as no cars at all. Local food production, for one... (I'm looking for diversity in decentralized, renewable energy: that doesn't say it will happen.)

The Jeep Liberty CRD Diesel (or any diesel) can be fitted to run on both diesel and biodiesel (like vegetable oil) Biodiesel available in Madison and many other places.

My '93 Civic Coupe gets 350 miles per 9.5 gallons at a conservative estimate. This is also the average in a combination of city-highway. I am pretty sure that beats out a Prius and every other Civic available including hybrids. So Sip has a valid point.

Ani don't you know that Ford already makes a hybrid Suv?

Also how many ppl saw John Stossel reporting on the "We're running out of oil" and other myths last night? I laughed so hard I almost cried ... almost. its like am I supposed to be excited that we have enough oil that can be found in the earth/soil that we can completely ruin our planet? Greeeat. Having a sense of urgency that oil was running out and needing to find alternate forms of cleaner energy was a good thing imo.

Still our planet has craploads of oil. Just it's more expensive to refine when the oil is mixed in with soil and sand and yada yada. They have to steam separate the oil from the soil so the process is more expensive than the processing of a liquid well.

Back to the topic ... anyone read the Time cover article about Global Warming? We're screwed unless we reverse everything we've done up to this point in like 10 years. The "tipping point" so what's his name has stated ... the guy who knows more about global warming than anyone else. The same guy our president has censored from speaking on the subject. Typical ...

SNL did a parody of that view of global warming, tonight. Al Gore debated with global warming with a ditz character. He showed photos of glaciers that have vanished over the last few years. She'd say, "Global warming. That's hot. I love wearing shorts!"

Also: there was a skit about "Jen" in a restaurant.

Another was on a woman playing a role where she is surrounded by aliens (who sound like ghosts), ET arrived saying 'phone home' and dracula showed up and...' LMAO
