Experiences can be gained from books, not merely living out time. As Socrates would agree, whole experiences of entire lifetimes of people and their knowledge are compacted into the tender pages of books.

I don't think I would agree with u on that.....if a an eight year old is too mature for his/her age that just means that he's not normal, and the rest of the 8year olds who act their age are the ones who are normal, and the same goes with all the ages, and as I said there are exceptions of course all the time......but usually maturity depends a lot on age!

That was awesome, but I'd have to agree. Anon, maturity beyond a certain age and immaturity for a certain age are exceptions, but quite common these days. Only reading books doesn't make one mature, life and the duration of time with a number of experiences is what forms into maturity.

I agree, experiences determine maturity- but it's not so much the number of experiences, it's more like the impact, and might of the experiences.
