I'm guessing the person is very sensitive about their birthday if they are a bit unhappy. Are they? You do have a pretty good excuse, but apologise anyways just to make them feel better. Afterall, it is their birthday.

wel people look at it this way...
it is your birthday coming up, and you have a friend who is like your borther/sister.. and your birthday comes and passes.. he/she does not say "happy birthday" ... or if he/she is your gf/bf.. or worst yet actually.. its a friend whome you have a crush on (more sensative times).. tell me that it wont bother you at ALL if they forgot yoru birthday? i mean. i wouldnt get worked up about it.. but it would bother me a litle bit i presume..How do you hurt a masochist?
