Why would we take any heed in the opinions of someone concerning things (at least in part) biological when such a person is in denial of the basic known/accepted facts of biology? Its no wonder that the conclusions of such an individual are by definition (and as given) entirely laughable.

modernity is characterized by the negation of all forms of tradition (in the common acceptation of the word and also in that of thinkers of modernity like Guenon or Evola). anthropocentrism, materialism, rationalism, relativism, negation of transcendence are primary traits of that phenomenon. all of this, Evola associates not without reason with the feminine spirit which, he underlines, bears strong affinities with the j-ewish one. the advent of modernity coincides with the feminization of society leading to what he terms (following Bachofen's own terminology) "gynecocracy" or, more commonly, matriarchy. that such a society "produce" homosexuals is actually no wonder. that the latter be considered as a mere category of "individuals" with a different "sexual orientation" is a mere consequence of rationalism and the total loss of the cosmic view the ancients had (I recall there's an explicit reflection about that in Tarkovsky's Solaris). Foucault is actually of the freudo-marxist breed.
Such rationalism is in fact I believe what destroyed the ancient greeks as it eroded the traditions on which that great civilization had been built. In his time, Aristophanes would mock and decry the socratic philosophers and their pretentions. and there is the opposition between Eschyles and Euripides, that of a partisan of tradition/aristocracy on one hand and one of "modernity"/democracy on the other. If homosexuality never got to be accepted in the way it does today, it might just be because the greek civilization collapsed before it did. natural selection or divine providence, as you prefer, did its job which it is prevented from doing today by some artificial means... for how long? that is the question.

Originally posted by AnonymouseI think one of the things which modern society does and excels at is actually producing homosexuals. Whereas in the past, such as in Greece and Rome, homosexuality was simply just a sexual behavior engaged in at times, the lifestyle that was accepted and dominant was the man/woman lifestyle and marriage. And as Foucault (himself a homosexual) pointed out, in modern society, homosexuality is no longer a sexual behavior, it is a category, a classification, and what we have come to know as "an alternative lifestyle".Plenipotentiary meow!
