Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

  • Re: Like to know what nationalities Armenians are dating these days...

    Hello Everyone,

This is my first post on this site, and I am happy I found it.

This topic really hits home with me.

I am Armenian and I was born here in the US.

I lived in a place where the only Armenians were my immediate family and a couple of cousins.

I grew up around odars all of my life and only later on did my family and I move to So Cal. and I went to Armenian School for a few years etc.

During and after my time even at Armenian School, all I dated were odars.

I even had one odar girlfriend for 4 years that was just a beautiful person inside and out, who was so committed to our relationship that for 2 years she studied Armenian, went to church with and without me, worked very hard to integrate herself into the Armenian Culture that at one point I felt more like the odar.

At one point I was going to marry her, we were going over the plans for the rest of our lives and something inside me just went off like an Atomic Bomb and I realized that I could not go on with the relationship, because deep down inside I was lying to myself thinking that this relationship would work and we could raise a full Armenian Family.

Trust me from experience, there are distinct differences in having a relationship with an odar (who is committed to wanting to intergrate themselves into the Armenian Culture) vs. an Armenian...

You feel it in your heart that you are an Armenian, and that is only because you have Armenian blood pumping through your heart.

In the end, we broke up and it was a bitter one, since there was nothing wrong with her in my book, except that she was not Armenian.

After this relationship I concentrated on my career, family and eventually I met my beloved wife (of all places on an Armenian Online Dating website) and we both are happy and fortunate we found each other.

Look, I spent over 10 years in and out of relationships with odars and the one thing I always observed is that they can understand our culture and our ways, but they cannot feel it like a true Armenian can.

    Regards,
    Addax

I live in Armenian Central here in So Cal, and I still had to go on line to eventually find the right Armenian Girl.

They are out there, you just have to keep searching..

I've never dated an Armenian. It's hard meeting Armenians unless you are heavly involved with an Armenian organization or if you live in an Armenian community. I guess ideally it would be nice to get married to an Armenian girl one day. Thus far I've have unsuccessfully dated a Korean, a Swiss, an American (blonde/blue eyes of irish decent) and a girl from spain.

What concerns me, I've dated a lot of Mexicans, couple Cubans, 1 Puerto Rican, numerous mixed whites and JUST 1 LITTLE ARMENIAN, who ultimately didn't agree to shag with me unlike Mexicans, Cubans, Whites, etc.

That's why if you want to have a good time it's better to date Mexican or other Latinos, or Other whites...
          DOn't you think so?

How come odar women appreciate and adore Armenian men, or the same goes to the opposite side, but yet, us, Armenians can’t see the good qualities in ourselves?
To be an Armenian it’s not just a name we give ourselves. To be an Armenian is to love everything about being Armenian, that includes our Men and our Women, our history, our good and bad traditions, our humor, the way we walk, The way we talk, the way we cook, the way we eat, the way we cheer, the way we drink, the way we laugh and the way we cry or whip, that’s what makes us unique.
Believe me I’ve been around, but when I found my Armenian love, I knew I was home, I knew it was right and my soul was in peace. I married her right away without any hesitations. Home sweet home! There’s no better place than home!

Amaizing are the comments He dated Swedish, he dated Spanish...but he found Armenians somewhat different. Pal, big nations are not going anywhere, they feel secure, and therefore, insensitive to their heritage, because their heritage is not jeopardized. Small nations are different that way, they are protecting their historical national identity. If you do not understand what I just said, you should not try to date an Armenian

Hasmig is absolutely right , that is THE issue.

All nations that have been blessed by some abundence, in whatever form, often tend to take it somehow for granted....Be it electricity,water,gas...and yes even culture and/or population (so to speak) .

Smaller nations, or denominations, are obliged per se to be more "aware" and to have to handle accordingly in order to avoid possible and "looming" consequences.
All the more by cultural groups that have additionally suffered some form of persecution.
As Hasmig so rightly said it is all about the securing of the "historical national identity"

The question then that begs to be asked is "How is this national identity to be sustained?" or " what is it that has to be to be maintained in order that the cultural identity remains?"

I believe (and I can only speak here as an "Odar" ofcourse ) that it is not just a matter of blood but rather more a matter of the essence-
I feel that, just as we as individuals cannot entirely be defined by our physical form, neither can a nation.

Armenia is a land with a magnificent heritage, a proud folk, and a mighty soul! It is this essence that should be carried in the hearts of it's people be passed on to the future generations...

I have ,sadly, but not one drop of Hay blood in me -yet I swear to you if I were to marry an Armenian I TRULY believe that the Armenian identity could & would still be preserved through the incessant & relentless spirit of Armenia that would bind us.....and I would very much hope that I am not alone in this belief...

                    շատ շնորհակալ եմ

well i havnt really found an armenian guy i can connect with so i have mostly been dating white guys.

No offence to the armenian guys but most seem to be soooooo concentrated on finding the "ideal" wife, and future mother of their kids and the good housekeeper that i just feel like i dont fit in and dont connect with them.

I am not saying i am not about family; i think family comes first, but I am very independent and like to preserve my individuality in a relationship which is somehow hard to accept by most armenian guys.. well the ones i met at least. To be honest i find it hard to meet the armenian guys especially since i dont live in Glendale haha. so that just makes finding armenian guys much more difficult.

ofcourse its easier to "fit in" and be "accepted" in the armenian society if you are dating an armenian guy but it just doesnt sound right to limit the options just to please the others. its your life after all.
