The theory of evolution (as a biological process) is nothing more than discoveries and observations through reverse engineering of biology. In fact, I'm not surprised the creationists aren't jumping on the "see, we all have a common ancestors... adam and eve".

Jerry Coyne needlessly confronts creationism and intelligent design (whatever it's called) instead of just presenting his "without a shadow of a doubt" facts. He contends evolution is no longer a theory but a fact. On top of that he claims that anyone that disagrees is stupid. He reminds me of Bush's "the great decider speech" and the "if you're not with us, you're against us" speech. Why can't he just present his ideas without insults? Simple, he's trying to sell his idea just like a pitch that salesmen use.

Evolution
I'm going to use this thread to post things relating to evolution.
To begin with, here is a great talk by Jerry Coyne author of "Why Evolution is True."
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/w1m4mATYoig&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en& feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/w1m4mATYoig&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en& feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Do not clutter this thread with comments about there being no evidence for evolution. I will be posting evidence, so just wait for it. I will post some basics thought the focus will be to post the new stuff rather than posting the heaps already existing. If you need something in the meantime while you wait, there is a great website maintained by Berkeley that explains with illustrations the theory. Most people who doubt evolution, I find, do not quite understand the theory. In addition to the nice explanation, there is a section of evidence as well.
Now, this is in the science section and any discussion here should be an intelligent and civil discussion of the evidence I post. Any posts that are getting nasty or comment on the poster rather than what they said, they will be removed.
If you want to debate evolution itself (rather than specific evidence I post), I think we might be better off creating another thread. This is going to be updated and maintained with news and discoveries and it's easier to navigate without pages of circular debate between. I don't want to detract from the discoveries posted as it did with the Ardi thread.Tags: None
