Hopefully no one takes Robert Swift and he can play for SC. (Yeah right) We finally get a top HS player and the bastard goes to the NBA. Looks like he'll be a Celtic. His red hair and pasty skin will fit in well there.

Well, if Portland gets Kidd, they'll have little need for Van Exel, especially if they keep Derek Anderson. I don't know about a backcourt of Kobe and Van Exel, though. You don't want to stockpile a bunch of guys that all work best with the ball in their hands. That's pretty much the Mavericks or the Blazers. What the Lakers need is a good passing guard that can play defense and hit the occasional three, but who doesn't need to handle the ball all the time or take a ton of shots. Bobby Jackson would be perfect, but that'll never happen.

If they do somehow, sbye some strange happening get Nick, then why in tarnation did we trade GP for? We lost the chance to get Damon Jones which would've fit perfectly off the bench behind GP, and would've fit perfectly in.

Now the Lakers are dependant on rookie pointgaurds to back up the apparent starting PG (Atkins) a 2nd string PG.

Maybe we can somehow get Kirk Hinrich while we're throwing names out there. That kid is good!!!

Lakers could probably get Jay Williams for next to nothing. Who knows - maybe he'd actually be able to play by next year.

Training camp starts in a week, still no solid PG or no word from Karl Malone for the Lakers.

But Denver is lookin mighty fine, along with SA and Minn...looks like SA will take it this year if they stay healthy.

Anyone hear any other last minute rumors?

The Lakers need to unload some small forwards. They can't carry this many players into the season and they may as well get something for them, even draft picks. It's starting to look like they'll just use this year to see what they have. The only other possibility I can think of is that they have deals in mind involving players they acquired over the summer that can't be moved yet. Too bad they can't sign that Lithuanian point guard that tore up everyone in the olympics, whatever his name was.
