Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

  • Ultimate Fight Night on Spike...

Did anyone see the David Loiseau VS Evan Tanner on Spike on Monday?

My girlfriend was watching Medium so I caught the commercial break sections.

At first I thought David Loiseau was going to lose but when I switched back apparently he won by using his devastating elbows. David is NASTY at strikes and blows. I'd hate to be on the receiving end!!

Anyway I was wondering if anyone knows where to find some online replay action on that bout.

I guess to make this thread a tad more interesting I'll pose this question...

Is UFC a more purist fighting sport than boxing?

I think that it is as boxers employ some really wack strategies to win bouts. For instance when they're all tired and all they do is hold on to each other trying to use their heads to create or worsen a brow wound. Even worse when they try to use the gloves lace "o" rings (the metal pieces that the laces intertwine through) to create an brow wound so that their opponent will get blood in their eye making it much harder to fight.

I do enjoy a good boxing match but more times than not it seems like the above strategies more than actual trading blows.

I bet a lot of boxers including Mike Tyson would get their butt handed to them in a UFC fight. Imagine Mike T. against an amazing heavyweight grappler. Since he likes to bite ppls ears off he might as well sign up!

Well, as the biggest Mixed Martial Arts fan, I am surprised at myself because I actually missed it.

To be honest, I am not happy with UFC in recent times. If you want more discussions on this, search the sports forum as there have been several discussions of both UFC and Pride Fighting Championships.

As far as purity of sports, boxing is more pure than MMA, however, that does not always translate into more exciting, especially in the recent years it's been lackluster.

If you haven't seen Pride Fighting you are missing what MMA is all about. UFC sucks ass right now.

There were offers for Mike Tyson to fight but I guess nothing came of it. First, Mike was offered to fight in Japan in Pride Fighting, and then he was offered to fight Bob Sapp in K-1 (I'm sure you know what K-1) is. But it never came to fruition.

Boxing and boxers are limited in their style, therefore, they can never compete in an MMA match with an MMA fighter. Styles make fights, and in order to be the best fighter you must be cross trained as a hybrid fighter not in just one style, but, as Bruce Lee said, in many styles.

UFC definately doesnt live up to the standard of K-1 and even Pride right now. It seems that the more into the spotlight it gets the more I lose interest in it. As for Tyson fighting Sapp, that would be a suicide wish for him and how much money can K-1 afford to offer him for a fight like that anyway?

The UFC recently made some bad decisions, such as dismissing alot of their veteran fighters who pioneered the sport, in favor of these lame TUF guys because the UFC stupidly believes that SpikeTV is it's path to glory and those shytty fighters they have, they believe will get them the big money, shytty fighters like Diego Sanchez.

Even more recently, the UFC banned sports coverage for the next pay per view event of key MMA News organizations that helped pioneer the sport and give an outside balanced, objective view: Sherdog.com, MMAWeekly.com, Full Contact Fighter, and a bunch of others. Whereas in the past, we used to get pre-fight interviews, the weigh-in videos, the post-fight interviews. None of that will be available, all becuase the UFC under the stupid moron Dana White decided it would barr the outside organizations from covering the event. Rumor has it that the UFC is trying to go in a WWE style road of making their own magazine, or news organization that will circulate the news. The critical and objective coverage we have received will be no more as UFC will be the only one covering and offering news about the UFC. Such is what happens when an organization gains monopoly status, as the UFC has in America. Of course, their monopoly will slowly erode as other organizations rise, and as Pride tries to make a breakthrough in the American market. I only count the days.

But Karo Parisyan will be fighting Matt Hughes in one of the upcoming UFC's and I hope Karo defeats Matt, although realistically speaking, Matt has such a strength advantage it may be difficult.

As far as Tyson, the guy is bankrupt. Any money he can get will be of help. However, he doesn't want to fight anymore because he knows he isn't what he used to be. In other words, if he can get schooled in boxing by B-class fighters such as Byrd (or was it Bird), he will most definitely get schooled by MMA fighters who are not just about boxing, these are guys who know how to fight in the full sense of the word.

Actually to be honest I haven't heard of K-1 or Pride but thank you for letting me in on those two ... apprec.

I watch UFC cause I know when it's coming on consistently and it comes with my cable channels ... Spike that is. In all honesty I stopped watching UFC when Royce Gracie was still on top so it's been a minute. Recently I've been getting back into it because boxing is KILLING ME!! I agree it's a great sport but lately it's sucked majorly.

You can probably seriously school me on the K-1 and Pride...

I'd like some more info on where I can watch these tournies ... I imagine they're all pay-per-view, right?

Yes, both K-1 and Pride are on Pay-per-view just like UFC. Pride is the best MMA organization by far. It has some of the best fighters from around the world, whereas UFC is very limited and caters mostly to the American beer drinking redneck crowd. Pride is international, UFC is national. Pride is like the superbowl of MMA. They have a really good upcoming show.

For the MMA forums and news I suggest
The industry pioneer in UFC, Bellator and all things MMA (aka Ultimate Fighting). MMA news, interviews, pictures, videos and more since 1997.

              Thanks for the links...

You know I never realized how many rules all these organizations have for their fighters.

I remember this one match in UFC where this Asian grappler just got whacked in the groin, on purpose, like seven times. I don't think that's really great or anything but it was amusing /astonishing to watch this guy just take it! There was a period when, in UFC, there weren’t any rounds either, correct? Royce got killed for almost half an hour before getting this huge guy into a submission hold ...

I believe you are referring to Keith Hackney versus Jo Son, who represented his cheesy art called Jo Son Do! Haha he has been a laffing stock for ages. Fortunately this event was in the early days of UFC when there were very little to no rules. Since then, the organization and the sport have evolved, and to gain legitimacy in the mainstream have had to adopt rules to protect their fighters and the image. It helped it move from the mere 'amateur' idea of "brawling" to a more controlled combat sport.

EDIT: Oh yea and the fight you are referring to at the end was Royce Gracie vs Kimo Leopoldo. That was in UFC 1, 2, or 3 I forget. Yes, back then it was pretty much no rules and no time limits, the closest to a real street fighting situation. Royce eventually pulled out of the tournament that night because his ribs were damaged from his fight with Kimo. But that fight showed that it is not always size and power that win.

Nov 19th, is when the Karo vs Matt Hughes fight is on.

I hope Karo wins ... but yes, Matt Hughes is a mini-tank.... Hopefully Karo's judo adoptation for MMA will work.

Thanks for the date. I also hope Karo wins. I love watching him fight. He has come such a long way. I used to train in Judo with him at Gokor's when we were 12 or 13. I quit but look at him go. He's in the UFC now!

The only thing Matt Hughes has going for him, is his sheer animal strength. Otherwise, he has shown that he is vulnerable to submission guys, such as B.J. Penn. I do hope Karo pulls out the victory, especially since after Matt has talked crap about Judo.
