    Re: Improving the Forum

Why is the forum so inactive nowadays?

I remember back in 2005 and 2006, there were many more active members, and yes, a lot of them were Turkish. I know a lot of those Turks were banned, but some also left because of the way they were received here. I regret the way I treated them back then. Reading through some older threads, some of us really alienated them.

But I don't understand why we don't get that many new members anymore? Could it be because of the name change? "Armenian Club" was much easier to find through Google than "HyeClub." Maybe it's because of the popularity of social media websites? But then I've come across a forum for Afghans (certainly a smaller diaspora community) and it's more active than our forum was even at its peak.

There are currently 215 users online. 1 members and 214 guests

And when I sum up the number of viewers in each section it makes: 54

By the way for the last several days the number has sharply increased about 4 times compared with the past period.

How do you do the math.???

OMG, I can't think of an explanation therefore corruption!

We don't do special math other than what's employed by vbulletin.

If you pay attention to his own language, you'll see the key... He's comparing the sum of the viewers in sections to total users and is confused that they're not the same.

Not all users are looking at a thread in a forum section. Some are registering, some are using the search, some are looking at other users' profiles, some are private messaging, some are staring at the forum index, some are editing their profiles/preferences etc. etc. None of those cases would be counted among the viewers in sections.
It's like comparing the total number of people in a shopping mall with the sum of all the persons in stores. These are not the same thing.

I hope that helps clear up the confusion.

    Re: Improving the Forum

This forum has been in decline for a while now. It's the same at that other forum (no, not ArmenianPlanet). Is it because of Facebook and social media sites? Too many people being banned/purged? Unpleasant members scaring people off?

I know, Bell. The branding part and the main site, I don't really know much about. If Nimda has plans for the main site or rebranding/changing the appearance of this forum, I am not aware of them.

I agree it's something that should be given some thought.

What do you all think? Should the forum be the main site? If not, what should form the content of the main site? We're more likely to get the changes we desire if we're thoughtful and specific about our suggestions. Let's try to work it out so I can take something more "developed" to Nimda.

If you are a co-owner of this site; I strongly recommend banning yourself to increase profits.
The above poster is a perfect example of the many "unattractive souls" on this forum.

I was thinking to propose to Nimda a way to revitalise the forum. Merge some forum sections, take out old threads, maybe a slightly new design. I also was considering how to get Armenians from other social networks to join here.
