Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

      • At the rally in Baku, on the occasion of the death of the child, the demonstrators shout: "Rus, farce, Ermani, Bunlar Turkun dushmani." Which translates "Russians, Iranians (farce), Armenians, they are all enemies of the Turks"! I wonder what they think about this Russian in Baku or Talish in Baku?

            • Solntsepek in Karabakh is useless: Ivan Konovalov

On July 10, Baku announced the receipt of a new batch of Russian weapons. Later, the Armenian military-analytical resource Razminfo on the basis of a video published by the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry, said that among the delivered weapons there are about 200 missiles for the flamethrower system Solntsepek.

Solntsepek is a system designed for close combat, so it will be extremely ineffective for fighting in Karabakh, military expert Ivan Konovalov believes.

"Given the geography of the theater of operations in Karabakh, we need other systems for effective military operations. The Solntsepek system is designed for use on open territory, "Ivan Konovalov said in an interview with RUSARMINFO.

According to the Russian military expert, Sunzentek in Karabakh will be useless for Azerbaijan.

"Armenian units occupy elevated heights, so the Sun-Pepek is ineffective. In extreme cases, the system can be used on the first line of defense, and further than the first line, the use is inappropriate, "Ivan Konovalov said.

"Solntsepek" is a heavy flamethrower system (TOS) of a volley fire designed to defeat the personnel of an enemy who is in an open area or in defensive structures. The targets assigned to the TOC are destroyed by missiles equipped with various combat parts of incendiary and thermobaric action.

Regardless, if they do get into a position where they can use it, this will be devastating.

It's beyond doubt, azeris are going for war. This is not simple arms race for given countries capacities.
Looks like Azeris clearly see that the oil boom of 5 years ago and military superiority dream is not going to repeat for them for near future.
Maybe on the contrary, they may loose whatever edge they have.
So it's now or never. I suspect Baku may have this psychology now.
Our government cannot take excuse of not knowing.
It will be very short but too intense. Azeris will throw in all they got. One reason being the reality that our side may not go for protracted war. It is not early nineties anymore, too many players can get involved. Turkey is number one. It will not get physically involved, but will pressure Russia to stop Armenia from restoring territorial losses.
Very dangerous. Our government should get ready to stop Azeris and restore frontline within 2-3 days from start of activities.
We have to be ready to throw in what we got and smash Azeris within first few hours.
i don't know much about military tactics in this case, but seems to me we have to have forces and plans ready to start our own advance and break into azery weak areas.
Tavush region or Omar pass comes in my mind. We have to threaten their large populated areas, like Gyandza. Not by just missiles but by tanks and ground forces.
Defencive tactics may become a big disadvantage. We have to have offensive plans and works ready to spring in few hours.

Exactly. The problem is, even if they get Nagorno Karabakh, it doesn't really do anything for them. There is no economic benefit from it, and even if you get Karabakh back, they're going to need to spend money for people to live there. So say hypothetically they somehow overrun Karabakh, OK. Now what? They lose all their best soldiers, lose their entire military, and then have all of NK to show for it? They're not going up against the 20k NK soldiers, but all of Armenia. I can't see anything that they gain from this.

As for what Armenia can do, I mean the only things that Armenia can do is:
                      1. Keep monitoring them
                      2. Keep the territories guarded
                      3. Prepare for a preemptive strike

I think what a lot of people do not understand is that Armenia is stuck in this mindset of defense. If it had a policy of offense, you would be able to tell and the Azeris wouldn't be this ballsy. We have Iskander missiles and tochkas. I think it would make absolute logical sense that the next time they do some kind of training exercise near the border, we lob over some SCUDS.

EDIT I thought about what Azerbaijan is doing. Essentially, their tactic is going ot be to flood Armenia with Anti Tank missiles, UAVs, and artillery fire to the point where Armenians "surrender" and give Azerbaijan territories. They know they can't get all of Karabalh back, but they can force to change Armenia's stance at the negotations.

Armenia needs to be able to monitor deeper into Azeri territory. Once you see a cluster of weapons, drop some SCUDS.
