Unfortunately in and around LA for instance a good many Armenians constantly buy turkish goods and by doing that they are promoting turkey. It's not only in LA but all over. And then the same Armenians go around parading on April 24 against the denialist turkey who pays 5 Million dollars to one US congressman and another couple of million dollars to one other congressman to do their dirty work and deny the Genocide.

Every Armenian should stop and think for a minute that by buying turkish goods they are making the denyalist turkey that much richer and are therefore working against their own sacred cause [the Armenian Genocide].

Guys, You are not giving us money. You are buying and using our goods. So It is a trade both side benefited.. anyway, maybe we should stop to feed armenians with our goods because they go and attack turkey at april 24..

Though studying economics, I don't know much about the existing Customs Union and economic aspects of EU (I never enrolled to the related elective courses). However, I can say that it's not something by definition bad to export cheap commodities (consider China). For further comments on this subject, we should review the literature about the trade between EU and Turkey.

Yes, indeed. Still, you study economics, so I guess I do not need to remind you that the abovementioned customs union does not cover essential economic areas such as agriculture, services and procurement, which actually generate the highest profit. The 1996 customs union is basically limited to cheap consumer goods. It's the type of agreement that economic powers sign with Turkey, Taiwan, Indonesia or Cambodia and it's based on cheap labor force in the producing countries. It is in no way an indicator to economic satbility or capacity for viable partership.

Why are you so puzzled with this thread? As you like to discuss why Armenians couldnot build a long-lasting empire, they may like to discuss (realistic/imaginary/futile/useful/whatever) issues about Turkey.

As for me,
The target of membership to EU is more important for Turkey than the membership itself. All this membership process has changed Turkey a lot, and this is what all I (and most of the EU supporters in Turkey) care about.
