Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

Um, I'll just give you the benefit of the doubt instead of looking through all your posts.

Now back on topic, the war in Iraq was wrong, Armenia shouldn't have joined but might gain some political favors by doing so, and Armenia will be around longer than any of us!

NATO is not going to help out anyone that wont help it. The UN may give money to charities but it acts more like a mercenary than anything else. It tries to create only one mind set for the world.

Saroyan said this. He was refering to Armenian people not Armenia. Armenians can create an Armenia anywhere, not a country, but a community like "Little Armenia".

What question did you want me to answer?

Like we said, how many countries have disappeared in the past 20 years? Technically, a lot, but there's a difference. The USSR disappeared for example, but it wasn't a real country but a union of a bunch of half-independent republics anyway, that wasn't a huge change like you are predicting. Besides that one the only other one that comes to mind is Yugoslavia, but once again that is a case of a country made up of lots of different groups dismembering into independent states for the various groups. That is certainly always possible, especially for a country like Iraq it makes sense. What you are forcasting though is the complete disappearance of Armenia as a nation within two decades, something I can't imagine happening to a single country anywhere in the world. Why is this so immenent for Armenia while it is certainly not the worst off country in the world. You would think if Armenia's problems are the reason for its disappearance, then all other countries worse off than it would disppear first.
Also you have no faith in the diaspora. Am I the only one proud that, despite all it's problems (what community doesn't have them?), the Armenian diaspora has got to be one of the most supportive of its country-countpart of any in the world. The only one obviously more supportive is the Jews for Israel, but there are lot more of them and they are all in powerful positions and basically control the US government. Meanwhile look what Armenians have been able to accomplish despite the US basically working against them. We just won't let our nation that was dreamed of for such a long time fall apart within two decades.

              • ok. If you think that Armenia, as of now, has some kind of potential, you are out of your mind. That does not mean it can not become a good country in the future, I meant if trends continue as they are today, Armenia would be smaller and weaker to the point where it will cease to have any voice because of lack of military and economy (if you dont have a voice, you do not exist).

Other countries, I would say the Baltic people might disappear soon. Heavy Russian influence.

Lack of military?! We fended off Azerbaijan that had the support of Turkey, US, and most of the Islamic world didn't we?! How are we militarily insignificant?! (On the world stage, sure it's insignificant, but compared to countries in similar positions its probably above average. It's certainly better than its much larger neighbor Azer.) Also based on current trends in the world community, I would say Armenia is slightly going up rather than down. It's pretty apparant the world is starting to support us with Karabakh for example. You seem to be measuring Armenia's existence based on how much power it has on the world stage. There are 190+ countries and only a handful have real power! Why are you predicting the downfall of Armenia for not being one of these??? Don't forget that when it comes to ethnic lobbies (in the US at least), Armenia is number 2. Considering its size, that is unheard of!

Also I thought at least two out of the three in the Baltic trio were doing quite well. I certainly am no expert, but seeing as they were admitted into the EU they can't be THAT heavily Russian-influenced. When it comes to CIS states, Belarus is the number 1 state up for Russian absorbtion, not the Baltics.
