/PanARMENIAN.Net/ The Confederation of Unions of Public Employees of Turkey (Kamu-Sen) has collected 50,000 signatures from the citizens of Bursa to protest the upcoming visit of Armenian President Serzh Sarksyan to Bursa for a soccer match between the two countries’ national teams on October 14.

Holding a press conference, the provincial chairman of Bursa’s Kamu-Sen, Selcuk Turkoglu invited citizens of Bursa to the game.

Stressing that sport activities create “a nice competition between countries and nations, Turkoglu said that the soccer game has been politicized.Our invitation for Armenian President Sarksyan is turned into a blackmailing. He said that he would come only if the borders are open. We should not forget that Nagorno-Karabakh was invaded by Armenian army with Russian support,” Turkoglu said. “Armenians held an invasion that is against international laws and they committed a genocide there. Turkey’s border to Armenia is closed because of Nagorno-Karabakh issue till the resolution of the problem within the frames of international norms.”

“As Confederation of Unions of Public Employees of Turkey, we are not against the football game to be held in any city. But we want our government and state to react to the blackmailing of Armenian President Sarkisian about his visit,”

Turkoglu said that they will “show a strong reaction” against the Turkish government if Sarkisian comes to Bursa. “We will not bow to cheap Armenian blackmailing with the signatures that we are collecting here”, asbarez.com reported.

It is kind of funny that both parties are feeling blackmailed and they are both right. Armenia has more to gain out of this deal then the turcks but both will benefit.

They say its because the recent comment by Sarkisian that 'he would not come to Turkey'. Since Gul visited Armenia; they think Sarkisian should visit back as a goodwill. Ive no idea if he really said that or not. Thats what the many newspapers say.

Economic predictions: Dashnaks say Armenia will suffer


An Armenian opposition MP believes that the opening of the Armenian-Turkish border will have a negative impact on the economy of Armenia.

Artsvik Minasyan, from the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun, submitted the analysis of his party this week concerning the possible economic damages that Armenia may suffer in case if the border is open.

According to that analysis, ARF suggests settling at least 53 basic problems, and only then to think about opening the border.

“The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per a person in Turkey three times surpasses the same index in Armenia. This means that the Turkish public is three times richer than the Armenian public, and, of course, therefore speaking about balanced relations even in the sense of demand and supply, is dangerous,” Minasyan says.

He adds that besides, Armenia does not have such a system of protecting the competitiveness of domestic producers as Turkey does. According to that analysis, Turkey has a privilege over Armenia in export and protection systems of production, state support for agricultural and industrial sectors, etc. Minasyan also has a concern that because of the imperfection of food security control in Armenia, Turkish poor quality products will enter the Armenian market.

“We start the process of opening the borders without settling the problems, or at least being on the threshold of doing so,” Minasyan says.

This guy contradicts himself. If the turckish public is three times richer then our own then we would have a easier time competing in their market then they in ours (laws of economics).

After the free trade agreement that Canada signed with the US, the only thing that happened was American companies came in and bought everything up and Canadians became more Americanized. The economy grew only because of the American debt system... people started "affording" things they couldn't afford before like big houses and fancy cars. However, that feeling of wealth is only temporary because they haven't worked for the things they "own".

No, the point is there needs to be fair laws that benefits the citizens of both countries and not the wealthy capitalists when it comes to trade. Opening of the borders is an issue of security on both sides.
