HOVHANNES TUMANYAN'S RESIDENCE IN TBILISI NOW BELONGS TO THE GEORGIAN ARMENIAN DIOCESE

Hovhannes Tumanyan's Tbilisi residence now belongs to the Georgian
Armenian Diocese. Today chairman of the Union of Writers of Armenia
Levon Ananyan handed the keys to Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, Primate
of the Georgian Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

"This is a great honor and a great responsibility," the Primate
said, and informed that negotiations are under way with Tumanyan's
grand-granddaughter on purchasing the other part of the house.

The Diocese aims to create a center there, which will unite the
Armenian cultural centers of Georgia.

Months ago the Mayor of Gyumri, Vardan Ghukasyan, provided $145
thousand to by the house.

Վրացական մի շարք կուսակցությունների ներկայացուցիչների համար, պարզվում է, հետաքրքրական է լսել Վրաստանի հայ համայնքին հուզող հարցերը, հատկապես երբ դրանք ներկայացվում են հենց հայերին հետաքրքրող տեսանկյունից: Այս մասին «Ազգի» հետ հեռախոսազրույցում տեղեկացրեց Թբիլիսիի հայերի ասամբլեայի նախագահ Իրենա Օհանջանովան :

Իսկ հայկական տեսակետը ներկայացվել է երեկ` Թբիլիսիում նույն ասամբլեայի կազմակերպած կոնֆերանսում` «Նախընտրական քննարկում հայ համայնքի հետ» թեմայով, որին մասնակցել են «Վրացական երազանք-ժողովրդավարական Վրաստան», «Ազատ Վրաստան», «Հանրապետական» կուսակցությունների ու «Միասնական Վրաստան» շարժման ներկայացուցիչները:

Ըստ Օհանջանովայի, այս հանդիպումն իր ձեւաչափով առաջինն էր, ինչպես նաեւ առաջին փուլն էր, հաջորդիվ կլինեն հանդիպումներ նաեւ մյուս քաղաքական ուժերի ներկայացուցիչների հետ: Հինգ հայկական կազմակերպություն եւ համայնքի կտրվածքով հեղինակություն վայելող անհատների միավորող ասամբելայի նախագահի խոսքերով, վրացական քաղաքական ուժերի ներկայացուցիչները հայ համայնքին հետաքրքրող հարցերի առնչությամբ կամ անտեղյակ են, կամ ունեն բավականին այլ մոտեցումներ: Օհանջանովան հույս ունի, որ այս ամենը չի մնա զուտ նախընտրական, թեեւ առայժմ ասվածն ընդունվում է ի գիտություն: «Հայ համայնքը պետք է առավել ակտիվ լինի, մենք զգալի պասիվ ենք վերջին շրջանում: Ինքներս պետք է առավել մասշտաբային ու բարձր մակարդակով բարձրացնենք հայ համայնքին հուզող հարցերը», շեշտեց Օհանջանովան:

Հայ համայնքի ներկայացուցիչներն էլ վրացի քաղաքական գործիչների ներկայությամբ, ինչպես «Ազգին» տեղեկացրեց հանդիպմանը դիտորդի կարգավիճակով մասնակցող «Բազմազգ Վրաստան» կազմակերպության նախագահ Առնոլդ Ստեփանյանը («Բազմազգ Վրաստան» կազմակերպությունը դիտորդական առաքելություն է իրականացնում Վրաստանի սպասվող խորհրդարանական ընտրությունների առնչությամբ, հատկապես` ազգային փոքրամասնություններին առնչվող հարցերում-Ա.Հ.), բարձրացրել են հայ եկեղեցիների վիճակին ու եկեղեցու կարգավիճակին, Հայոց ցեղասպանության ճանաչմանը, հայերենին տարածաշրջանային լեզվի կարգավիճակ տալուն, Վրաստանում քաղաքական գործընթացներին հայերի մասնակցությանն առնչվող հարցեր:

Մոտ մեկ շաբաթից տեղի կունենա նմանօրինակ ձեւաչափով հանդիպուների երկրորդ փուլը` այլ ուժերի ներկայացուցիչների հետ:

Թբիլիսիում քանդում են Արամյանցի հիվանդանոցը

Թբիլիսիում քանդում են հայազգի հայտնի արդյունաբերող եւ բարերար Միքայել Արամյանցի հիմնադրած հիվանդանոցը:

Ինչպես հաղորդում է Ռուսաստանի հայերի «Երկրամաս» թերթը, Վրաստանի իշխանությունները մտադիր են այդ վայրում Զուբալաշվիլի եղբայրների անվան բժշկական կենտրոն ստեղծել:

Նշվում է, որ 2011թ-ին շենքը վաճառվել էր ծագումով հնդիկ ռուսաստանցի գործարար Դանիել Գուպտային: Վերջինս մտադիր էր պահպանել շենքը եւ միայն վերանորոգել այն, սակայն վրացական իշխանությունները նրան համոզել են քանդել եւ եվրոպական ոճի նոր շենք կառուցել:

Nadiradze's missile made people in Tbilisi worry

of Aleksandre Nadiradze's Topol in night sky


The majority of Tbilisi's residents (and not just them) stared at the
night sky 7 June, trying to determine what that strange illumination
was: A bright spot was advancing in the sky, leaving a trail behind
it. Then there was a flash, it started to spiral, and finally the
light disappeared.

What could this strange "celestial object" possibly have been?
Multiple theories were proposed, starting with the explosion of a
comet and ending with an alien spaceship crash. Meanwhile, the cause
of the strange illumination in the night sky was completely ordinary:
These were the final seconds of the operation of a stage engine of a
missile launched from earth....[ellipsis as published]

The command of the Russian Defence Ministry's Strategic Missile Forces
issued an official report the next day, stating that a Topol
intercontinental ballistic missile was launched from the Kapustin Yar
test site in Astrakhan Oblast at 2139 hours Moscow time [1739 GMT].
Its dummy warhead hit a hypothetical target at the Sary-Shagan test
range in Kazakhstan.

According to Russian generals, the main goal of the test was to
examine the flight performance of this type of missile after multiple
years of storage.

The Soviet Union began deploying the Topol mobile intercontinental
ballistic missiles in 1985 and Russia still had 360 Topol mobile
complexes in its arsenal by 1996.

recent speeches that, during the August 2008 war, the Russians fired
into Georgian territory Iskander [missiles] designed by our compatriot
Nadirashvili.

While it is true that two Iskander tactical missiles hit our territory
during the August war (one in downtown Gori and the other near
Vaziani), they were not designed by our compatriot.

There is no one named Nadirashvili among the constructors of missile
systems. However, Aleksandre Nadiradze, a great constructor and our
compatriot, is frequently mentioned in Soviet and world rocket
scientist circles along with [late Soviet rocket engineer Sergey]
Korolev and [late German rocket scientist Werner] von Braun.

In 1977, as the chief constructor of the Moscow Thermotechnical
Institute, Aleksandre Nadiradze began designing a solid-fuel
intercontinental ballistic missile that would be deployed on a wheeled
chassis and would therefore be mobile. Unlike the ballistic missiles
placed inside silos, whose location coordinates were traceable by US
satellites with a margin of error of a mere couple of meters,
Nadiradze's wheeled missiles would "hide" in Russia's vast taiga and
be launched towards the United States from the least likely locations.

The new mobile missile system was dubbed Topol. It became the most
modern and dangerous nuclear weapon. US presidents still take account
of it, and this will continue for another 10-15 years.

Preparing the Topol for launch only takes a couple of minutes. The
chassis that has seven axes stops and the missile container moves into
a vertical position. The missile moves several meters above the
container and then the rocket engine of the 45-ton three-stage
ballistic missile's first stage starts. Once the solid fuel burns out
in each of the stages, [the stage] detaches from the missile's body.
What the residents of Tbilisi saw on the night of 7 June was probably
the last seconds of the operation of a rocket engine from a stage that
had detached from the missile.

Once all three stages detach, the nuclear warhead that weighs about a
ton continues to fly towards the target. Its power is the equivalent
of 0.55 megatons of TNT.

It is noteworthy that the Topol designed by Aleksandre Nadiradze
carried a nuclear warhead created by Armenian constructor Samvel
Kocharyants. It was capable of wiping a provincial US town off the
map.

«Հայերը Վրաստանի խորհրդարանում նույնիսկ շշուկով «ցեղասպանություն» բառն արտասանելու իրավունք չունեն, քանի որ Հայաստանը Վրաստանին զիջել է մի շարք իրավունքներ այդ երկրի տարածքը որպես տրանզիտային զոնա օգտագործելու դիմաց: Իսկ ադրբեջանցիներն օգտվում են առիթից' շարունակելով իրենց լկտի և ցինիկ պահվածքը»,- այսօրվա ասուլիսի ժամանակ հայտարարեց ջավախքցի փորձագետ Ղևոնդ Մկրտչյանը:

Օրերս Վրաստանի խորհրդարանական դահլիճում տեղի ունեցած միջադեպը վրացագետ Ալիկ Էլոյանցը պատահական չի համարում: Հիշեցնենք, որ Վրաստանի խորհրդարանում վերջին նիստերից մեկի ժամանակ վրացի պատգամավոր Ջոնդի Բաղաթուրիան հայ երիտասարդների հետ հանդիպումից հետո հանդես էր եկել ցեղասպանությանը վերաբերող հայտարարությամբ:

Georgia: ‘Armenian Genocide’ Remarks Triggers Incident In Parliament

(Civil.Ge) — Remarks by an opposition lawmaker about Armenian community’s calls for recognizing the 1915 mass killing of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire as genocide, triggered an incident during the parliamentary session on April 24 involving a brief scuffle and exchange of insults between MPs.

As part of routine statements, usually made by MPs during sessions on Tuesdays, MP Jondi Bagaturia from the opposition parliamentary faction, Unity for Justice, took the floor from the Parliament’s rostrum to speak of various issues and one of the issues he raised was last year’s decision by the Georgian Parliament to recognize 19th century massacre and deportations of Circassians by the Tsarist Russia in the northwest Caucasus as genocide. He recalled this decision and criticized it in the context of requests from Georgia’s Armenian community to recognize the massacre of Armenians in Ottoman Empire as genocide – such appeals are usually made almost every year in April, when the anniversary of those tragic events are marked.

“When you recognized Circassians’ genocide just for the purpose of a one-day PR show, we [warned] you not to do that, because we would have nothing to tell to our Armenian citizens. I wonder what are you going to tell these people now? These are our citizens; these are our compatriots; you [referring to ruling party MPs] should bear responsibility for that,” MP Bagaturia said.

Remarks triggered angry reaction from Azer Suleimanov, a ruling party majoritarian lawmaker from Marneuli single-mandate constituency in Kvemo Kartli region, predominantly populated by ethnic Azerbaijanis. MP Suleimanov was shouting at MP Bagaturia while the latter was speaking.

“I’ll take care of you when I leave [Parliament's] rostrum, give me some time,” MP Bagaturia responded to MP Suleimanov.

Then MP Suleimanov approached the rostrum holding, what seemed to be, a cream tube and tossed it on the rostrum in front of PM Bagaturia, telling him: “Here is a present to you from the Azerbaijani people.”

MP Bagaturia responded by throwing the tube back at MP Suleimanov; then a Parliament marshal, overseeing rules and order in the chamber, as well as some ruling party lawmakers rushed to the rostrum, dragging MP Bagaturia away and for next few minutes lawmakers involved in the incident continued exchanging verbal insults.

Few minutes later MP Suleimanov took the floor and in his remarks he dubbed MP Bagaturia as “Bagaturyan”, calling him “our Armenian colleague”.

“[MP Bagaturia] unfortunately remains stick to his Armenian opinion about Armenia from sea to sea and about made-up genocide. What genocide are you talking about? Your Armenian bandits killed over 60,000 Azerbaijanis in 1918 in various parts of Azerbaijan…” MP Suleimanov said, but was immediately interrupted by Parliamentary Chairman, Davit Bakradze, who ordered to turn off microphone.

“There will be no speeches any more about this issue; this is very sensitive and painful issue,” Bakradze said, adding that “our brotherly” nations of Armenia, Azerbaijan, as well as of Turkey “have undergone through a very difficult history and I really do not want this difficult history to become a topic for emotional and political discussion in this chamber.”

“Pain of Armenian nation is a pain for us too; the same is about Azerbaijan and Turkey, because all three are our neighbors and friends,” Bakradze added.

In their speeches later during the same session, several lawmakers, both from the ruling party and parliamentary minority, touched upon the incident with some of them slamming MP Bagaturia for raising the issue and describing him as “a provocateur.”

“I absolutely agree with you when you turned off the microphone for [MP Suleimanov],” a ruling party lawmaker Akaki Bobokhidze told the parliamentary speaker and asked him to apply the same rule to others whose “remarks are obviously provocative”.

“Bagaturia is an obvious provocateur, who spares no efforts to trigger problems with those countries, which are our friends,” he added.

“Bagaturia is a provocateur,” Guram Chakhvadze, a lawmaker from the parliamentary minority group, said. “What he said today is directed against the Georgian national interests.”

MP Giorgi Targamadze, leader of Christian-Democratic Movement (CDM) and of parliamentary minority group, said “caution is needed when speaking on issues like this.”

“It is about a very delicate issue, which may trigger very complicated processes, which may harm everyone,” he continued. “I’m not going to lecture anyone. The fact is that this Parliament is an example of friendly cooperation between Georgian, Armenian, Azerbaijani [MPs] regardless of our political views… I understand emotions that followed statements made here… but my request would be to put an end to this incident. We respect our shared problems; focusing on certain episodes of our past, which may distance our nations, should not be our goal… I want to express my respect to all of those ethnic Armenians and Azerbaijanis who take part in building of the new Georgian state.”

Comments on the issue were concluded by remarks from Parliamentary Chairman, Davit Bakradze, who said: “One of the great things that has been done in Georgia in recent years is the fact that notion of ‘Georgian citizen’ has been firmly rooted in our country and regardless of our ethnic background we are all equal citizens of this country.”

“The biggest enmity one can do against Georgia today is to divide Georgia based on ethnicity,” Bakradze continued. “So I call on colleagues not to, wittingly or unwittingly, do something that is damaging for our country, not to divide our citizens and not to trigger confrontation with Georgia’s neighbors.”

“As far as emotions are concerned, I understand it, because the issue is one of the most painful for our neighboring and brotherly peoples; we have gone together through a difficult and tragic history and there have been many tragic pages in this history, recalling of which always triggers emotions; but I want to state once again that because this is the Georgian Parliament, there will be no statement in this chamber that may insult our brotherly Armenian nation; because this is the Georgian Parliament there will be not a single statement in this chamber that may insult our brotherly Azerbaijani people and the pain, the tragedy which our neighboring nations have gone through is the pain and tragedy for us too; but this tragedy does not require political speeches in this chamber and such speculations which we’ve heard from some of our colleagues.”

“So let’s not yield to provocative remarks,” Bakradze added. “Let’s not entertain our enemy with our shared pain.”

Later on April 24 a senior ruling party MP Giorgi Gabashvili said no matter how provocative MP Bagaturia’s remarks were, there was no justification to comments made by MP Suleimanov. He also said that MP Suleimanov had received “reproof” from the ruling party.

I wonder would armenians overwhemingly serve in georigan army? would they fight against armenia in a hypotherical war? it doesn't make sense of course... I don't buy that azeris are enlisting in droves in georgian army either.

If you are willing to fight against armenia in hypothetical war, then you are not Armenian.

AKHALTSKHA'S ARMENIAN SCHOOLS BARRED FROM ATTENDING GENOCIDE EVENTS

AKHALTSKHA. - Principals from the schools of all Armenian villages
surrounding, and those Armenian schools in, Georgia's Akhaltskha city
were summoned to a meeting Monday at the city's Resource Center.

They where were warned against attending on Tuesday, and on the account
of classes, the Armenian Genocide's 97th anniversary commemoration
events, which they were attending every year and without any
obstructions, Akhaltskha.net informs.

This is the first instance, in the history of independent Georgia,
when Akhaltskha schools are barred from taking part in Genocide
commemoration activities and church requiem service.

Akhaltskha, Akhaltsikhe in Georgian, is a city in Javakhk-Georgian
name: Javakheti-which an Armenian-populated part of Georgia's
southeastern Samtskhe-Javakheti Province.

Ռուսաստանաբնակ 52-ամյա Գեղամ Սարգսյանը, ով դանակով սպանել էր իր տուն ներխուժած ավազակներից երեքին եւ ինքն էլ վիրավորվել, վախենում է, որ կարող են իր ընտանիքի նկատմամբ հաշվեհարդար տեսնել:

Երեկ հայտնի դարձավ, որ նա 3 մարդու սպանության գործով մեղադրյալ չի ճանաչվել եւ միայն որպես վկա կհարցաքննվի։

Տուլայի մարզի Բոգորոդիցկ ավանում բնակվող Գեղամ Սարգսյանի ընտանիքի վրա չորս հանցագործներ էին հարձակվել ապրիլի 7-ի երեկոյան, երբ ընտանիքը հեռուստացույց էր դիտում։ Սարգսյանը ստիպված դանակով պաշտպանել էր իր ընտանիքը, ինչի հետեւանքով հարձակվողներից երեքը մահացել են, մեկը դեպքի վայրից փախուստի էր դիմել։

Ինքը Գեղամ Սարգսյանը ուղեղի ցնցում է ստացել եւ այժմ հիվանդանոցում է։ «Ազատություն» ռադիոկայանի հետ հարցազրույցում հայ գործարարն ասել է, որ իրեն լավ է զգում, թեեւ դեռ առնվազն մեկ շաբաթ էլ կմնա հիվանդանոցում։

«Դու հիմա որեւէ վտանգ չե՞ք զգում, որ կարող է լինել ձեր կամ ձեր ընտանիքի հանդեպ», - այս հարցին Սարգսյանը պատասխանել է. «Կարող է լինել»։

Նա հաստատել է, որ իր հիվանդասենյակը եւ տունն այժմ պաշտպանվում են ոստիկանների կողմից. «Կան ոստիկաններ տանն էլ, հիվանդանոցում էլ, ամեն տեղ էլ կա։ Երեխային դպրոց տանում են, դպրոցից բերում են»։

Գեղամ Սարգսյանը պատմել է ապրիլի 7-ին տեղի ունեցածը. «Տուն մտան չորս հոգի, դուռը բաց էր` մտան, սկսեցին ծեծելը, ծեծեցին` ինձ էլ ծեծեցին, աղջկանս էլ, հարսիս էլ, երեխաներին էլ։ Հետո որ շատ ես հարցրի` «ի՞նչ եք ուզում, ի՞նչ է պետք ձեզ», թե` «փող, ոսկի, փողն ու ոսկին տվեք»` ասում է։ Տվեցի փողը, ոսկին` էլի ծեծեցին, էլի ջարդեցին։ Մեկը մյուսին ասում է վրացերեն (երկուսը վրացի էին)` «փողը տուր, նրանց սպանիր», ուզում էին կանանց սպանել արդեն` ատրճանակը ձեռքին, աղջիկն էլ ինձ օգնեց` կարողացա այդքան բանն անել։ Դա շատ երկար պատմություն է` մի կես ժամ ծեծում էին ամենաքիչը»։

Նա պարզաբանել է, որ վրացերեն գիտի, քանի որ մեծացել է Վրաստանում։

Թե ինչպես է իրեն հաջողվել դիմադրություն ցույց տալ` Սարգսյանը մանրամասնեց. «Պահի տակ կարողացա ձեռքներից փախչել` աղջիկս ինձ օգնեց` ինձ որ տակը ծեծում էին, աղջիկը եկավ, վրաներն ընկավ, որ` «հորս մի սպանեք», այդ պահին իմ վրայից ընկավ, ես փախա խոհանոց` հենց խոհանոցի մոտ էինք, էլի, երկու քայլ էր։ Խոհանոց մտա, դանակը վերցրեցի, խոհանոցում էլ մութ էր։ Հենց այդ պահին, որ իմ հետեւից վազեց առաջինը, ում ձեռքին ատրճանակ կար, ես մթության մեջ առաջինին խփեցի դանակով։ Դրանից հետո արդեն մյուսը աղջկան էր խեղդում` հետո դրան` հետեւից, հետո էն երկուսին, երբ որ իմ վրա եկան` նրանց, մեկը գնաց, մեկը փախավ»։

Հարցին` որեւէ կասկած ունի՞ արդյոք, թե ովքեր կարող էին լինել հարձակվողները, ճանաչե՞լ է նրանց, Գեղամ Սարգսյանը պատասխանել է. «Ոչ մեկին էլ չճանաչեցի, չէ։ Ես թշնամի չունեմ, ոչ մեկին էլ վնաս չեն տվել, ով կարող է անել` ես չգիտեմ»։

Ռուսաստանի դաշնության քննչական կոմիտեի լրատվամիջոցներ հետ կապերի վարչությունը երեկ հայտարարել է, որ Գեղամ Սարգսյանը անհրաժեշտ ինքնապաշտպանական գործողությունների է դիմել, երբ սպանել է իր տան վրա հարձակված երեք կողոպտիչներին: Քննությունը եզրակացրել է, որ հիմքեր չկան Սարգսյանին քրեական պատասխանատվության ենթարկելու համար։

Քննչական կոմիտեի ներկայացուցիչ Վլադիմիր Մարկինը «Ինտերֆաքս» լրատվական գործակալությանը ասել է, որ սպանության փաստով հարուցված գործում Գեղամ Սարգսյանը հենց սկզբից անցնում էր որպես վկա եւ չի դիտարկվել որպես մեղադրյալ, ավելին` նա ճանաչվել է տուժող:
