you can stop with the 'holier than thou' speech; i have only ONCE heard him mention that he has 'armenian roots;' just because someone is born armenian does not make him/her one! i have more respect for those who are only 1/2 or even a 1/4 armenian and have more armenian spirit than any other armenian who could not care less about their identity and has bought into this humanistic relativism b.s. and has totally abandoned any cultural values.

As I said, maybe he doesn't choose to announce what he donates. You can't not give him the benefit of the doubt, as some people here claim he has indeed donated money.
And when the opportunity came up to speak about his Armenian identity (i.e. when he faced Sargsian in the U.S. open), he was more than willing to talk about how he was Armenian, and the announcers wouldn't shut up about how much he's helped Sargsyan's career.
How can people claim that he doesn't "feel Armenian" when he went out of his way to help Sargsyan break into the ATP? Sargsyan said that before most games he would play, Agassi would give him a call, and tell him about the other guy's strengths and weaknesses, and give him tips and such.
Just let the guy do his thing. Maybe he will be more active after his retirement. Who knows?
And once again, SOAD is in the entertainment industry. People care about what they have to say, and they have the opportunity to say what they wish. It's not the same for an athlete.

i think diar dants is agassi's PR agentand what's this about SOAD being in the entertainment industry and carrying more weight? people DO watch tennis for entertainment as well! maybe a different kind of crowd, but still if he chose to promote and enlighten his fans about our culture there is NOTHING stopping him! and he does not have to prounce around and make public the fact (as yet to be verified) that he donates $$$. noooo, this is not about money; i am referring to public awareness of who armenians are and where we come from and what religion we pray to...etc.; i was never talking about donating money!

Yes, I'm being payed half a million dollars to protect him. *rolling eyes even harder*
People DO watch tennis, yes. But most sounds that come out of tennis players are "OOO" and "UMPH" and "EEEEEEEE HAWWWWWWWW, EEEEEEEE HAWWWWWWW" (last one was Monica Seles-inspired), not lyrics, and such. How did most System fans learn about the Armenian Genocide? The song "P.L.U.C.K.", followed by its explanations. And yes, performing artists such as singers will be a lot more vocal about issues than tennis players.
Not everyone will be as vocal as SOAD, there's no debating that. And it's even unfair to expect that from everybody (don't forget that the members of SOAD are mostly first-generation immigrants, and none of them, to my knowledge, are the children of mixed marriages). But if the guy cares enough to go out of his way to help a fellow Armenian make his career, you can't discredit him as "not Armenian enough", even if you would have wanted him to do more.

I took some pills. I'm fine now.
