America is just a temporal distortion in the time continuum. Its identity stealing, culture killing days are coming to an end. Resistance isn't futile.

Though I do not have strong American pride, I must disagree with you. "American" isn't really an identity. When I tell people I'm "American," they don't accept that answer: "So does that mean you're white? Spanish? You look Italian..." America wasn't even founded by ONE ethnic group. It is a moshpot of diversity - for better or for worse. Its culture killing days will continue forever. Why? Not for some dark agenda, but because America is compiled of individuals who think of themselves more and more with each generation instead of thinking of themselves as part of a society, and thus making it ridiculously difficult to govern itself. There is only so much compromising that can be achieved.

I think the reasoning behind an Armenian identifying as an American is different. They are either assimilated to the point of no return or they feel "bullied" by American society which often seems to be non-accepting of "ethnics" or they just wanna save the embarassment of an ignoramus not knowing what an Armenian is and calling us Arabs or asking if "Armeynyans are Muzlims?" so they just say they're American.

What intrigues me is that I definitely see the point that many people don't know who Armenians are (I'll be frank. I met my first Armenian this last year...and now I'm dating one.... just noticed that.. moving on..). However, it's not that America is non-accepting of ethnics, they're non-accepting of whatever it is they do not KNOW. That is the fear of everyone when it gets to a certain point. For instance, the time where the house was really dark and you heard a noise...now you're not sure if you really heard it as you were doing something else (sleeping, on computer...)... and then your mind starts to wonder and you start to panic, especially if you're all alone in the house.... Point is, you don't KNOW. You became scared. America is the same way. They don't KNOW about you, so they don't know if you're a friend or foe.

There is some truth to the "white boys club" in America. If you don't fit into their corporate culture, your chances of moving up from the mail room are slim. This is why the assimilation process is so quick, it's forced upon immigrants in trade for their survival. Also you'll find that Armenians who aren't as assimilated usually run their own businesses, work for the family, or are living in proximity to an active Armenian community. Canada seems to be far more accepting towards culture. Really, there is not much more to Canadian identity than maple syrup, hockey and beer.

I honestly could care less if an American knows where Armenia is or not, or how ignorant they are on the subject. When asked I will say Armenian proudly and without hesitation, they don't like it or make a bad face, then they can go and xxxx themselves for all I care. If they are willing to learn (which isn't typical among americans) than I will teach them about Armenia, about our history, and so they are not so ignorant next time.

Canada seems to be far more accepting towards culture. Really, there is not much more to Canadian identity than maple syrup, hockey and beer.

It's also because Canada successfully practises multiculturalism.

So you think America will just be another Brazil? There are some things that make up the American identity... I notice most people identify themselves with the school they went to. Oh, you're a Harvard man. In Michigan, it's either you're a Wolverine or a Spartan. So basically your identity ends up being a combination of the state you were raised in, the school you attended and the company you work for.

There's one way to know if a person is American or Armenia. If asked "Who would you fight for in case of a war between Armenia and USA?", if the person responds USA, he is American, if responds Armenia, than still Armenian.

Of course a large simplification, but still a good indicator.

A very good point. Regardless of individual Armenian allegiance to any country, each Armenian has a holy Oath to mother Armenia. Should be a no brainer

Armenian Diasporans are veterans of many wars....few examples Vietnam,Iran/Iraq war (on both sides).

Some of the most Ultra-Nationalist Turks have Armenian blood in them.....which can work against them if you do it right.

Internet is not the battlefield......your target is the reading audiance and not the enemy. However you still need to learn how your enemy (Ankara) operates, which is not visible.

Armenians have always volenteered to serve their host country in times of need.....check history from ancient times.
Also we even have been legions, you should know.

When you willingly serve in foreign armies, you swear an allegiance to the country you are fighting for, thus stripping you of the allegiance that your are supposed to owe to Armenia.
