Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

Nowadays few, young new Armoes, like to repeat that they are the only ones that should decide who they are going to marry, because it is “modern” times trend and a “strong” sign of independent decision making.

But the process ends up with being attracted by girl/woman that wears a handkerchief size skirt and has a groomed face; that has no similarity to her original one. These g i r l s usually expect their husband allowing love affairs with other men too. These girls with commander in chief character never go into compromise even with their own parents. And thus are not welcomed by parents.

The “Rembo” girls usually end up their “love” affair/s, no matter how many, by divorce. And are unable to convert into reality their egoistic dream; I’m my own hero. They can’t grow normal educated children; they have no time to devote to kids and can't serve as an attractive role model for them.

In Armenia no one admires the kind of “heroes”. Our real heroes are selected by taking into account parents opinion too and usually are recognized/appreciated and supported by public.

I have noticed this too and don't like it also. It is as a result of this new European/Western influences coming into Armenia, and people think whatever comes from the West is a good thing for society. We really need to prevent the social liberalization of our society and we need to protect our traditional, family values instead. The implications for Armenian society becoming one of those secular, anti-family societies like in Western Europe would be horrible for Armenian identity and nation. A woman has her place in society and a man has his place in society. A modest, traditional woman is integral to a long lasting, loving family from which you raise children with good values. All these things from the West come under labels such as "women's equality" or "gender equality" and so on...when in fact it is just making men oppressed in society and destroying the traditional family structure. Gegev jan, people are starting to realise this, and some are fighting back against such influences. It is important we make sure our society is not corrupted by those agents.

Who do you people associate with?! That's ridiculous. Independent thought isn't the problem there; it's lack of any thinking at all. It's rampant anti-intellectualism in the world that has created vain and narcissistic disgraces for human beings of both sexes. To isolate women is misogynistic.

I didn't say independent thought is the problem. The problem is having foreign values/influences corrupt your own sets of values and culture that define your nation. Nor am do we advocate isolation of women, actually we emphasize the respect for women and women are still important part of society of course.

Apparently, you all want to prevent them from thinking like me. What a nightmare that would be. Oh no!

Right!!! We are just against the "Rembo" women, that's it.

Women should look like women, in everything. Is it unnatural?

              What's wrong in it?

Why they should be similar/equal to men?
Are they created for the same functions?

For normal/regular Armenian women; the expression; "You look like a men", is an insult.

As it is in the case of horse, when somebody says; ''You look like a donkey''.

Note please that the expression above doesn't discriminate donkeys, it reinstates the fact that they are different and horse refuses putting equal sign among them.

But alas nowadays emancipated western feminists can't accept/realize this.
Because of their western/"modern" independent thinking "previlage" and "I'm my own hero" slogan. For them public opinion doesn't mean anything; they live for themselves and violating public opinion or Family/Christian values isn't a big problem/task for them.

Armenian REGULAR WOMEN doesn't live for themselves; they live for their children and family; this is the main difference between them!!! Children/Family versus Ego centered ones!!!

Why a man would fall in love for half a century with the EGO centered one?????????????????????????

Just for a sex only?????????????????????????????????????????????? ????????????????????????????

How is it that today's western women role models; "celebrities" fall in "love" and are getting married several times. Can you name several celebrities that are not divorced at least once. They all claim that they are getting married when they love the partner. Is it love or search for a sex partner?

And this is why the Regular Women don't understand/accept the emancipated of family/Christian values; western ones.

Exactly. Fortunately, not all Armenian women are like this, there are still many traditional women out there, but you can see things changing also to the bad side also. Those 'emancipated women' that look down on family, look down on their parents, look down on their religion, eventually look down on their nation, become embarrassed of being Armenian, and want to become "European". So they will in every way try to be one, including dressing very immodestly to achieve this. A woman should look like a women, a woman should have her place in society, her place in the family, a woman should respect our values and culture, and so forth. The degradation of women can lead to the degradation of your nation.

Opinionated, vocal, independent, and intelligent, but at the same time, family-oriented, modest, hard working, sympathetic to others, respectful, and honest. Probably not what you'd expect out of Western culture which you guys think churns out nothing but garbage. In Armenia, it was more the locals who looked far more painted up and looking like prostitutes. So YES, I resent it when you make sweeping generalizations about Armenian women who grew up in the West and imply that women who are feminists and/or share my views wear handkerchiefs for skirts, are selfish, look down on family, and are ashamed of being Armenian. You might find this surprising, but that's incredibly offensive!

I allways point out the evile things that the west does to our world but the attitude many Armos have twords women including these jokers is as "Hetamnats" as it can get. Some of the people i consider as friends in the armenian community wont allow their wives to get an education nor a job fearing they will leave them once they are empowered. There are great women everywhere but finding them is not always easy be it in Armenia or in the USA. We Armenians do not have everything figured out and we do have things to learn from others including the west.

Western culture is a general term. There are both good and bad things that come from the West. For example, the West has good principles for governance/economic principles. On the other hand, the globalised culture of "female emancipation" and the breakdown of family is something negative for our nation. Just take a look at people in places like Holland, where making a family has become a thing of the past, where women are more powerful than men, all in the name of political correctness and social liberalism. It's a dangerous development. I'm not making sweeping generalistions. Everyone in the West is not the same, everyone in Armenia is not the same, etc. but there are certain lifestyles/values that I do describe as dangerous to Armenian society, and many people agree with this. Feminism is the main agent in this movement. It's goals are taking the woman out of the family unit, vilifying men, and so forth. It's not as innocent as the term suggests. Take a look at what Feminism has done to Sweden.

Not really Hetamnac, all we want is to protect our society, it's values, our conservative Christian culture. We don't want our culture to be filled with foreign values, because those values will destroy our nation, destroy our religion, and our identity. With globalization our nation is at risk of being corrupted into things such as "female emancipation" and "sexual revolution"....things that have made the known West a cesspool of degraded values and customs among people.
