That is precisely what I have been ranting against all this time. Armenians who go around thinking they are 'thugs' and have to act black and be rappers really present a degenerative trend for the Armenian community.
I wouldn't say he is sorry but I would say misinformed. He's not the first though, you must go to those morons like the Twins who started all this, and then down to R-Mean and One-Two and other little munchkins who think they are thugs.
I am not sure who One-Two is, but I dont think you have really listened to R-means lyrics. He is one a the few Armenian rappers i do like, because he does not, try to act gangsta. He actually has some lyrics of relevance, including a song about the genocide. You may not like rap music, and that is objective, no one is telling you to like it. However you cant judge a persons character on what form of music he likes. He is bringing awareness about Armenian issues, to groups of people, that may have otherwise never even heard of an Armenian. As far as the Twins go, I dont think they are the most talented rappers out there. However, from what I heard of their music, they are proud to be Armenian, and I dont see anything wrong with that.
I personally do not like heavy metal, but I am not gonna knock System of a down, since they do a lot to promote the Armenian community to others. From a music persepective i dont like them, meaning that I would not listen to their CDs. On a personal level I respect them, for being actively involved in Armenian issues.
Unlike many other famous Armenians, like Agassi, and Cher, R-mean is actually proud of his heritage. He makes a conscious effort to bring fourth Armenian issues, to the mainstream public, so I dont see how this makes him a moron.

R-mean is not famous, lets see if he is "proud of his heritage" if he actually does get famous.

Like I've said before, there is high culture and there is low culture. Historically, it has been high culture that has been the earmark of genius and creativity and all that is sublime in man. Low culture is predominated by mediocrity, uniformity, and decadence. There are culture creators and culture bearers. These Armenian rappers have not created something new much less positive in terms of uniqueness and creativity. They are not creators of new values, but are mimicing and stepping into a paradigm and culture created by blacks.

You are speakin emotionally and irrationally, rather then objectively. BMW, Mercedes, or any car for that matter was not created by Armenians either. According to you this would mean we would be mimicking AMerican and German culture too, by driving a car. You dont think Armenians, created every musical instrument they use in their musics either do you? If you think so you are wrong, we have borrowed instruments from other cultures as well. Would you just want to hear music to the background of a Duduk in every song?
What defines high culture to you anyways? HAtred, biased, arrogance, racism and insults, which many people, including yourself, display on this forum, you could argue, is also far from being high culture.
He is using the platform he has to educate others about Armenians. I dont think he is a genius, but I do think he is talented in what he does. Jxws have pushed their agendas through media, why shouldnt Armenians?
Let me ask you what you have done for Armenians, that makes you so much greater, then R-mean?

First, I never claimed I am better than "R-Mean". But now I am. I am better than R-Mean.
Second, I should have been more clear. The issue here is not whether one borrows or is influenced by other cultures. That is indisputable as man naturally incorporates and learns from others. However, what he borrows is very important as it all has the affect of either heightening and stimulating your culture to great heights and greatness never before reached, or the opposite effect of degenerating and enervating it. What is not in dispute is the distinction between high and low culture, for example the comparison of classical music versus that of rap. Can anyone seriously claim that rap is somehow higher in all its forms than the intricacies and genius of classical music?
"But who are you to claim that what someone likes is inferior you racist and arrogant mouse?" Any intelligent person can see that rap is inferior. However, since there are those of us who think white is black, there are no doubt those who would and do perceive rap as somehow higher in the plain of creative consciousness than the genius behind classical. But that is what we call an inversion of mind which can only be a result of a low mental state that spreads like the plague. What the masses choose and adopt as their culture, in this case and our generation that of 'rap' and 'MTV' speaks volumes about that people. What people consume and take up as 'good taste' is reflective of that culture. It takes less genius and intelligence to appreciate simplicity such as rap, than it does to comprehend the genius of Mozart of Bach.
EDIT: By the way, for the sake of argument, what's wrong with "irrationalism"? Why do you assume rationalism is somehow better? Rationality, maybe, but rationalism? By the way, it's only an assumption.
Yes, but the achievements of rap music shouldn't be nakedly thrown into competition with classical music... Rap serves its purpose for the contemporary styles and trends, and its appeal to today's listeners is probably as strong as the appeal that the 17th and 18th century European public felt for Classical music. Although you can compare the technicality and methods of expression in both styles, it's not wise to place one as superior to the other, as they are like apples and oranges.
Is it fair to say a flute is inferior to the piano because it plays less notes? That is the kind of apples and oranges situation I'm talking about that can be seen when one compares Rap to Classical.

Why not? I see no good reason why one shouldn't.

The duduk is harder to master than the piano. What is unfair about that? "Apples and oranges" while sometimes an applicable analogy has gone beyond its intended purpose in a slippery slope and now is nothing more than a wand used by everyone to justify anything and everything.
