By 1430 the Ottomans had conquered Albania, but during the 1440s Gjergj Kastrioti organized the country’s feudal lords to fight the Ottomans. Kastrioti, popularly known as Skenderbeg, successfully resisted Ottoman control for 25 years with military help from Rome, Naples, and Venice. Albanian resistance collapsed after Skenderbeg’s death, and the Ottomans reoccupied the country by 1506. About one-fourth of the country’s population fled to Italy, Sicily, and the Dalmatian coast on the Adriatic. Skenderbeg’s name has been invoked throughout Albanian history to inspire national unity and independence. Today he is revered as Albania’s greatest hero.
During four centuries of extensive rule, the Ottomans failed to control all of Albania. In the highland regions, Ottoman power was weak, and the Albanians refused to pay taxes or perform military service. The Albanians staged several rebellions, partly in defense of their Christian faith. At the end of the 16th century, the Ottomans began a policy of Islamicization (conversion to Islam) as a way of preventing future unrest. By the end of the 17th century, about two-thirds of the population had converted to Islam, many to avoid the heavy tax levied against Christians. The Ottomans also extended their control through a feudal-military system, under which military leaders who were loyal to the empire received landed estates.
As Ottoman power declined in the 18th century, the power of some military lords increased. The Bushati family dominated most of northern Albania between 1750 and 1831, while Ali Pasa Tepelene ruled southern Albania and northern Greece from 1788 to 1822. These local rulers created separate states until they were overthrown by Ottoman sultan Mahmud II. A number of Albanians also rose to high positions in the Ottoman government in the 18th and 19th centuries, with more than two dozen becoming grand viziers (prime ministers).

2. Albanians did not convert to islam in the 1400s......i was also wrong but so where you...there is no Albanianism! religion in albania after what i know....there are mostly moslems...but albanians are quite tolerant if that's what you mean by Albanianism!
3. When you talk about the peoples who established the republic of turkey then you should have mentioned that kurds fought againt the republic of Turkey...and actually albanians and arabs had just liberated theirselves from ottaman terror.....

You don't necessarily have to be white to gain respect from stupid Europeans. Being Armenian from Caucasia and Middle East is respectful enough. Try to respect yourself first to give up your inferiority complexes.
2. Albanians did not become Muslim at 1800, we adopt Islam at 1400s. And we and also Bosnians are not converted to Islam by force. You have to be familiar with the social and economical background of Albanians and Bosnians at middle ages to understand this issue. If Ottomans forced us to become Muslim, why do they only force 2 nations and ignore all Greeks, Serbians, Romaniansi Bulgarians, Macedonians, etc. I can send you articles if you really want to learn more about this issue.
By the way, Albanian religion is Albanianism!
3. Yes, we are nationalist for both Turkey and Albania at the same time. Turkey is my homeland and I am proud of being Turkish. But Albanian is my ethnic background and I am proud of being Albanian, too. Turks, Albanians, Bosnians, Circassians, Kurds, Arabs, etc. established the Republic of Turkey together. It is not easy for you to understand since you focus only your ethnical background.

You don't necessarily have to be white to gain respect from stupid Europeans. Being Armenian from Caucasia and Middle East is respectful enough. Try to respect yourself first to give up your inferiority complexes.
2. Albanians did not become Muslim at 1800, we adopt Islam at 1400s. And we and also Bosnians are not converted to Islam by force. You have to be familiar with the social and economical background of Albanians and Bosnians at middle ages to understand this issue. If Ottomans forced us to become Muslim, why do they only force 2 nations and ignore all Greeks, Serbians, Romaniansi Bulgarians, Macedonians, etc. I can send you articles if you really want to learn more about this issue.

2. Albanians did not convert to islam in the 1400s......i was also wrong but so where you...there is no Albanianism! religion in albania after what i know....there are mostly moslems...but albanians are quite tolerant if that's what you mean by Albanianism!
