Who uses the term "Aryan" anymore? Back in the day when Europeans wanted to believe in their make belief story that their ancestrial master race came from the Himalayas, they'd associate Indo-Europeans with Aryans...

Today however, all we can do with the issue of Aryans is say, "They once existed, they rode on their mighty chariots and migrated eastward, all the way to Northern India". Not all Indo-Europeans migrated with the Aryans, why should the terms be interchangeable?

Reminds me of some distant cousins of mine living in Armenia who once stated that Colombus was Georgian for that reason (Iberia).

Why shouldn't they be interchangeable? They denote the same thing. And it remains that Armenian belongs to that language group.

There is no dispute that Vedic Sanksrit is an Indo-European language. The question is how it got there. The Aryan invasion is the most plausible explanation. You are free to believe otherwise.

But not all Indo-Europeans took the path of migration and "conquest" that the Aryans took.

The only case of Indo-Aryans deviating from the common migration eastwards were the rulers of Mitanni, who imposed their caste system on a much larger indigenous non-Indo-European speaking population located roughly in modern day Syria and Lebanon.

The Aryans began migrating out of the PIE homeland at roughly 3000BC, according to the articles I've seen from Armenian which are highly plausible with the logic I now share with him. Migrations out of the homeland prior to this time aren't really considered as part of the Aryan migrations. An example would be the migration to the Pontic Steppe, from which the northern Indo-Europeans sprouted out from afterwards. A second "homeland" which evolved somewhat independantly from the original in the Armenian Plateau, and is denoted by the Kurgan cultures, the original domestication of the horse (thought to have occured at roughly 4000BC), and the later adoption of the Indo-Iranian pottery styles.

The reciprocity of cultural traditions between these two homelands (via the region east of the Caspian) was crucial in providing the Aryans settled in the Armenian Plateau the technology and culture they needed to make their expanse eastwards.

All of this is in theory of course, I won't deny it. Still, I find it important to share this angle of mine, in hopes of making distinctions for which Indo-Europeans were Aryan and which were not.

However, you missed the essential point of mine that Armenian is an Aryan language and prior to the era of political correctness, it was a commonly held belief that Aryan and Indo-European were indeed interchangeable. That is the way it goes, I cannot change it.

"I regret that I am not clear as to what you intend by arisch. I am not of Aryan extraction: that is Indo-Iranian; as far as I am aware none of my ancestors spoke Hindustani, Persian, Gypsy, or any related dialects." – J. R. R. Tolkien, responding to a German publisher who was inquiring about the possibility of printing a German translation of The Hobbit
