Nobody enjoyed your imperialistic maps either. The difference is that your maps were designed to keep nations within a corrupt and tyranical empire where the only alternative to living in subjection was extermination.Originally posted by ScythianVizierThe formation of Iraq (and Middle East) was decided in the sinister strategy rooms of Europe even before the start of the WWI. The British and French did know nothing about the Middle East and that is why, they did draw some country maps in line with their artistic intentions. As one could witness in the Middle East, nobody enjoyed their imperialistic maps at all.Plenipotentiary meow!

Well, if he did leave in 1915 then it must have been because he was Armenian. There would have been no other reason that I can think of, unless his family was an important member of a particular Dersimli tribe whom the Turks considered to be "unreliable" (The Russians did try to gain allies amongst the Kurdish population, or at least to make sure they were neutral).Originally posted by RUDOI don't know exact time, but it must have been 1915.
But if he left 1917 then he may have left because living there had become impossible because of the closeness of the war.Plenipotentiary meow!

Contraversial isnt it? Since I must have been the one to blame...Originally posted by 1.5 millionHow dare you accuse me of comming up with excuses for crimes commited againt other human beings!
I have neither ever advocated the position that colonial slave labor camps or slavery in general is acceptable - either in the Amaericas...or in the Balkans as practiced by Ottoman Turks!
Nevertheless, I dont think that you should differentiate "unjust" applied against any ethnicity, and that is my point.
I know that you are a moderate person, that is why, I dare to come up with ironies.

I dont think that the Turks did kill 250-500 million people during their rule. Thus, the citizen of the Ottoman Empire were not the slaves or did not live in plantation camps. However, that is not the main plot, I suppose.Originally posted by bell-the-catNobody enjoyed your imperialistic maps either. The main issue that I raised was about the role of westetn imperialism as far as the present problems of the Middle East are concerned, and those problems were not the consequences of the pro-active Turkish policies designed to exploit all resources at the expense of historical inhabitants of the region.

I mostly think such things are silly, are ussually (called upon or what hve you) to support inherently racist agendas, and in fact even if used/useful still tell us little aboput the culture/society which IMO is what is really important anyway...we are all mixed and I do not believe in "races" or clear cut distinctions of this sort...Originally posted by ScythianVizierI felt like you were interested in such DNA studies, and I wanted to exploit the idea, did I offend you in any way?
