Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

Very lucid post. I agree with it all.

Indeed, if anything isn't the point of studying history, whether our own, or of others, to learn from it to NOT repeat? That being said we should not repeat the same hate, otherwise we learned nothing.

      Anymouse and ckBejug,

Those are the most profound thoughts that I have ever heard any Armenians utter. I find that there are many intellectuals that express such thoughts that would bring upon a reformation of the hurting Armenian mind that is intoxicated with hate such that blinds you from any rationale and sends you into an uncontrollable rage towards the unknown. However they are all too afraid to express them in fear of appearing traitors.

I don't see how people learn to hate, hate so strong that they themselves forget that their grandparents were the victims of such hate all due to the ignorance of some patriots who collected every Armenian and threw them into the pot of generalization. It is sad that once an intellectual expressing his/her thoughts branches off from so common of a slogan "kill Turks" he is considered to be an unArmenian. What does that say about our nation that we cannot forgive? That we are ready to grab a knife and stab an innocent 12 year old Turk in the moment of hate? That we as a strong, resilient and wise nation are not capable to venture out and form their own reasoning? So what is meant by a real Armenian is someone who is so blindly devoted to the motherland that he is willing to stand in line and shout the same lines of hate that he has been taught from childhood, and that makes us no different than the soviet communists and fascists of 21 century.

Let us not forget that Hitler used the Armenian experience to wipe out the Jews. Let us not forget that they were the only allies of the Turks during WWII. Let us not forget that the Germans gave political asylums to the pashas that were responsible for the massacre. Should we start hating Germans as well and Jews for not recognizing the genocide, and Americans who also did not pass the bill. Let us start hating every living thing for not fighting for our history. All of us including Karabakhtsis that Yerevantsis dislike, and Leninakantsis, and Parskahayer, even Armenians all over the world have something terrible to say about each other. And what do you think will change? Will it make the rest of the world recognize the genocide, even though even Armenians every chance they get denounce each other of being Armenians!

Anonymouse and ckBejug I admire you for your knowledge of your history and being bold enough to venture out on your own to express your wise reasoning. If only more Armenians were like you our country would prosper and genocide would have been recognized.

You know the mistake that has been Armenia’s downfall? Our lack of unity, until we learn to overcome that nothing will change.

so much for being an "Armenian"...
with that kinda Armenians... I dunno how much we're gonna be able to do about this!
        Jahannam,

I shall no longer engage in a verbal battle with you. Your superior judgment of me and all Armenians alike is far too incorrigible and primitive. If you chose to resume to your robotic and cliché ways of shouting "it's too bad we have Armenians like" and "kill all Turks" than that is your choice. I am all too tired of trying to change the minds of narrow minded nor do I have the authority to. I support you in your right of having your own opinion.

I can only hope to see your face in many marches in Armenia and Geneva leading the real Armenians to force the world to recognize Genocide. I will personally order a loudspeaker with an Armenian flag drawn on it so that you can shout louder "Recognize Genocide! Kill Turks!" and I shall keep my fingers crossed that the leaders through out the world will have your words ringing in their ears wile they are signing the bills for recognition of the Genocide...

God and what fools those Jews must have been for putting so much effort in supporting each other and building up their economy and foreign policy, if someone had only told them that all they have to do is denounce their own people of being Jewish and stand and shout "Recognize Holocaust! Kill Germans! Those German animals deserve to die!"

Gosh, cheers for all our Armenian geniuses!

          Ouch.....strong points.

I too hate being considered not proud enough because I have no intentions of my own to commit genocide. Many armenians have adopted a purely barbaric view, while still talking about how innocent we are and so on. We want recognition, we want apologies and so on and so on, but as soon as we start talking with a turk, IN ORDER TO REACH THE EVENTUAL RECOGNITION AND APOLOGY, we are called anti-armenian, or failed armenians or whatever.

              it's seriously sad...
I mean I don't want you guys thinking the way I ended my last post is a result of ...
              oooh i'm weak
              or
              you guys win....
it's just that if YOU guys said the genocide doesn't really have to be recognized we just need to "build Armenia economically" or whatever the hell that was... and then another armenian says oooh we don't need to know how to speak Armenian to be Armenian.... and then another Armenian says turkish and Armenian music are the same and since both turks and Armenians use the word "merci"(compliments of anileve)... that means our cultures are totally the same....
I mean I hope you guys realize what's happening...
does the word "assimilation" ring any bells?
you guys are just encouraging and quickening the process...
              and that's just sad...
              to me at least...
since obviously you guys don't give a xxxx...
              and to be honest...
              I'm outa here
this place is not worth staying anymore...
and it seems like I'm the only one left to be bashed by you guys since we have all these new and "cool" turks and anti genocide armos...
sorry... can't have fun with people I don't like...

When i came to the forum i didn't have any prejudice for the Armenians. I still do not have any. I want to let you know that, the Turks do not hate Armenians.

The people who have made decisions to punish (!) Armenians severely, during the WWI were the people, who caused so many pain to their own people also.

It was an Ottoman Official who was so desperate to get to war on Germany's side, in his view Germany would certainly win! In the case that Germany won, Ottoman could get back the lands they lost during the Balkan wars and the other wars of the time. There was no alternative way of allies as Ottoman owed the other group in the war alot of money, and they have declared Ottoman bankrupt and eventually ended up invading the capital Istanbul. on the German side, they wanted to fight at the east and block English way to India and to the other colonies, also taking control of cyprus where Ottoman had given privileges to England. without Ottoman's participation in war this would never happen. It is unbelieveable that the Ottoman emperor have SOLD the entire land to English+French+Italians+Greek+... on the expense of a small fortune, his own independence and a good life in Malta. The admirer of Germans Enver Pasha had convinced the empreror very well. And Ottoman joined a war which was predictable.

He, the Ottoman emperor has betrayed his own people, the Turks, how come it surprises you people that he would not hesitate to kill some Armenians?

The Turkish nation suffered alot fighting for their independence, and maybe all the evidence of the Armenian Punishment was gone during that fight... I do not know how exactly were they punished. Whether they were only sent to the desert or were they really buried alive, or tortured...?? But all in all, they died.

Today, everyone recognizes that Enver Pasha, and the others who forced Ottoman to join the war were traitors... (Young Turks movement is never honoured in our history also) If those people are capable of doing these to their own nation, why not to the Armenians? One day some sensible person should raise this out, and maybe it could be recognized that some innocent Armenians were killed for nothing.

But nowadays, people are even scared to question whether genocide has happened or not... because of some reasons....

Once i was listening to a song of a band called System of a Down i guess ,a song called chop suey, i did not know that they were Armenian, and one of my classmates in school said i am a traitor! the reason was, that band was putting up papers in their concerts saying: No dogs and Turks.... so how come i would listen to the songs of a band that hates my people, and discriminates us and lets the whole world hate us this and that.... :x

What i mean is people are now in a dilemma, they want to be objective about genocide but, they are angry for some Armenians' behaviors.... Turks are sort of people who are influenced easily, and also emotion driven....

All i am trying to tell is, under these circumstances and attitudes with hatred towards each other, you people's chances of getting genocide recognized can fade.

oh... do i still listen to system of a down? yes i do... i like their songs...

does whatever i wrote above make sense? i guess i jumped here and there... sorry about that, i had a mid-term test today, lacking sleep :?

Jahannam, how can we achieve anything if we can't talk to turks because they're turk?

The genocide is a very important issue, but communication seems to be the only way to reach its recognition.
