- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)

- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

Turkish, Israeli and American Jewish officials held frantic consultations in the past week in an effort to defuse a diplomatic crisis prompted by the Anti-Defamation League’s recent description of the Ottoman massacre of Armenians during World War I as “tantamount to genocide.” Senior Israeli and American Jewish officials went out of their way to restate...

(J-ewish national newspaper reports Turkish ambassador to U.S. taking a softer stance on impact of ADL's stance on Turkish-Israeli relations requesting a period of calm and claiming that the parties have to avoid at all costs derailment of their relations; tension in relations were revealed by recent ADL controversy; discusses history, nature and extent of Turkish-Isreali relations; reveals that Turkish relations with Israel is dependent on understanding that topic of Armenian genocide not one for public debate; Turkish ambassador confirmed Turkey's disappointment with ADL's shift as it changed premise of everything achieved with U.S. J-ewish community; AJC and ADL are still aligned with Turkey that matter should be investigated by Turkish and Armenian historians not recognized Congressionally; US and Israel not in line with international community in recognizing the Armenian genocide; quotes Foxman on current state of affairs re: Turkey's understanding that although ADL shifted on organizational recognition of Armenian genocide it still does not support the resolutions; Turkish Ambassador to Israel quoted as saying that Israel should not allow American J-ewish community to change its position as it is Turkey's expectation and it is "highly important")

History usually passes from one era to another in a slow, glacial process, too gradual to be discernible until the change is complete. There are times, though, when the change happens in an instant, like a flash of lightning splitting a summer night. Such was the birth of the atomic age at Hiroshima and Nagasaki,...

(Same newspaper publishes opinion piece identifying the end of post-Holocaust era in J-ewish community as the result of moral contradictions pitting genocide recognition against Israeli security; opines that collision happened twice last week 1st with the ADL controversy that caused a diplomatic whirlwind between Israel and Turkey and then with Israel ejecting Darfurian refugees from its borders; states that both crisis ring of the same moral dilemma which shall likely cause a political earthquake; post-Holocaust era brought with it the obligation to recognize genocide, that memory of genocide shall be preserved and genocide never again permitted; for many in the J-ewish community the two pillars of remembering the holocaust and cherishing Israel have been intertwined as part of modern J-ewish identity; pillars collided in grand fashion when Israel was discovered to be on the side of genocide deniers and many J-ews around the world found themselves in 'numb disbelief'; inquires why should we fight for a J-ewish state if it will not act in a J-ewish manner as wasn't its original promise to the world; refutes its own inquiry and concluded that promise of Israel was Zionism - to normalize the J-ewish condition; Israel not exempt from realpolitik and belief that it is was invented by those that created it; the August collisions should cause the J-ewish community to re-examine themselves and forge a new ethic for a new world b/c political ethics based on empty slogans and theories are no ethics at all)

Asbarez reporting that Massachussetts Armenians and J-ews have agreed to promote congressional recogniton of the Armenian Genocide and that there shall be a press conference tomorrow evening on the steps of the Massachussetts State house. Press release follows:

BOSTON--State Representative Rachel Kaprielian (Watertown) and Boston City Councilor Michael P. Ross (District 8) are hosting a press advisory to demonstrate the strengthening solidarity between the xxxish and Armenian-American communities as they underscore the importance of officially recognizing the Armenian Genocide by the Turkish government in 1915.

The event will feature Kaprielian and Ross as well as survivors of both the Holocaust and the Armenian Genocide, and a Rabbi and a member of the Armenian clergy, and is scheduled to take place on Thursday, August 30 at 5:30pm at the main steps in front of the Massachusetts State House.

Prominent members of both the xxxish and Armenian communities, including Steven Grossman, State Representative Peter Koutoujian, and area municipal officials will also be in attendance.

Does the American J-ewish lobby actually represent the American J-ewish community? Because, it is really starting to appear otherwise. At the end of the day, the lobby appears to be more and more the golem of genocide denying nations.

The Passion of the Foxman (2007)
      --------------------------

The Passion of The Foxman focuses on the last days of Abe Foxman's political life.

The story begins in the Big Apple where Foxman has gone to pray after sitting for the Last Sabbath. (Sabbath. Bloody Sabbath. [Sorry the creator of this story is a Black Sabbath Fan.] "War Pigs" plays softly in the background over Abe's Friday prayers)

Foxman must resist the DARK SIDE.

Upstaged by American J-ews and Armenians in Beantown, Foxman is then haled to Massachussetts and taken within the city walls of Boston where he is met by leaders of the J-ewish and Armenian community and confront him with accusations of bigotry and his trial results in a judgment of political death by hypocrisy.

This film story depicts the final hours of Abe Foxman, starting from his rescue from the Holocaust and brief raising by a Catholic family who provided him safe harbor, his prayers and his beatdown in Beantown at the hands of his purported constituency.

It goes on to show the trials he endured under Turkish and Israeli rule and the ridicule he suffered in the end.

Once the end of his political life is pronounced, he carries a heavy wooden cross back to Washington, D.C. amidst throngs of jeering citizens and horrendous mudslinging of the same type, nature and extent he casted upon others during his tenure, while a few citizens do what they can to help him.

Throughout this time, we are shown memories from his past with his brief upbringing in a Catholic family where he is tought tolerance and compassion only to forget it and his underlings, where he gives Zionist exaggerations. Finally, he is kicked to the curb, experiences his political death, and is remembered as a pariah in the J-ewish community and golem for dark, evil interest, but he resurrects from his political death to proclaim he was never a genocide denier. Yet, incredibly, no one believes him.

Inquiring minds want to know if the press conference about to begin in less than 10 minutes on the Massachussetts State House steps re: U.S. recognition of the Armenian genocide will be covered tonight on national primetime TV news.

Such a proposition would make a great Vegas wager as there is probably a lot of money on the event not receiving any notable national broadcast media coverage.

Well, golly, that dog can hunt.

(Calif. J-ewish weekly publishes opinion piece by contributor encouraging J-ewish community to throw their hat in the ring and favor U.S. Congressional recogntion of the Armenian genocide; comments on the absence of any meaningful debate about the truthfulness of the congressional genocide recognition resolutions; references majority House sponsorship of HR 106; opines that the lack of support by American j-ewish organizations is embarrassing; claims these organizations actually appease anti-semites and Muslim extremist sentiments by caving to intimidation; opines that if a Christian leader refused to acknowledge the Holocaust for fear of antoginizing Germany, J-ews would be outraged and dispute any claims that the Holocaust was only a J-ewish issue; based on J-ewish history, J-ewish organizations and people should be at the forefront of speaking in favor of Armenian genocide recognition not waffling or refusing to take a position; J-ewish leaders should refuse to be blackmailed by Turkey - muslim extremists - and Turkish threats against Israel and Turkish J-ews should be met with condemnation and confrontation not cowardice; quotes Churchill)

(Same publication republishes JTA's Ben Harris article detailing Turkey's desperation genocide denial diplomacy which included pressuring Israel to keep American J-ewish lobby organizations in line with Turkey's genocide denial stance)

(Same publication posts news brief reporting on Tarsy's rehiring and reinstatement this week as regional director for New England's ADL branch)

(Same publication republishes AJC Exec. Director's non AJC press release expressing that acknowledging Armenian genocide as historical truth is the right thing to do; neglects to indicate that earlier this year the AJC hand-delivered Turkey's genocide denial position to the Halls of Congress opposing the genocide recognition resolutions and, then, AJC said that it did not take a position on matter - except that when Armenian J-ews subsequently sent a similar letter to their attention supporting the resolutions they did not deliver the letter to politicians; "oh what a wicked web we weave, when first we set out to deceive")

(Same publication publishes another opinion piece by UCLA J-ewish history professor opinion that ADL's recent fence-sitting position acknowledging Armenian genocide but not support Congressional genocide recognition resolutions does not go far enough; opines that ADL's half-way shift is logically inconsistent and disingenuous; claims that Foxman has repeatedly ignored fact that an overwhelming majority of historians agree the Armenians experience genocide; Foxman's shift was not based on meaningful consultative process but a desire choke the fire beneath the controversy he created and calls for his resignation; opines that the Beantown beatdown brings to light other problems within American J-ewish organizational life; first, shortsighted political goals of organizations cloud moral judgment of organized J-ewish community - inquires if supporting those who falsify and distort history in accord with the J-ewry's interests and concludes the J-ewry has a responsibility to raise their voices against genocide; second, controversy reminds J-ewry of detatchment and undemocraticization of American J-ewish lobby organizations - no referendum has been put to the xxxry re: the Armenian genocide issue or any other significant matter as well - yet the leaders like Foxman often adopt policies and speak on behalf of the J-ewry based on their own sense of the J-ewry's best interests - routinely they are acting in the best interests of Israel - inquires who elected them to speak in the name of J-ewry - concludes that currently the J-ewry must scrutinize these leaders' powers to make presumptuous assumptions about what is best for the J-ewish community; finally, controversy puts into question Foxman's credibility and continue in a leadership role as he has grown detached and tyrannical - brutishly pushed out ADL colleagues in Boston and Los Angeles, reinvented the organization in his own image of superiority rather than independence; Beantown beatdown reflects that J-ewish leaders need a different set of qualities than those of Foxman - like duty to core J-ewish values, subtlety, historical knowledge and open-mindedness; concludes Foxman should follow the logic of his own shift and support HR 106 and local ADL leaders in Los Angeles should either announce support for HR 106 or denounce their mission statement "to secure justice and fair treatment for all")

(Local Watertown, Mass. newspaper publishes article detailing that Watertown leaders not willing to reconsider working with ADL's NO PLACE FOR HATE PROGRAM until and unless ADL does more re: Armenian genocide issue - i.e. publicly supporting Congressional genocide recognition resolutions; article references today's press conference re: Armenian and J-ewish unity in Boston supporting Congressional recognition of Armenian genocide)

Canada should remain neutral on the Ottoman Armenian question
Ambassador Brodeur does me great honor in responding to my article
(International Terrorism in Canada: Is the Police doing its job? TDN
23-08-07), but I must point out that 25 years is too long waiting for
Canadian justice to be served in the Altikat case. In the meantime,
when our parliament and political leaders adopt pro-Armenian
positions, it not only shocks and saddens Turkish Canadians, it harms
Canada's image as a land of fairness and rule of law.In my humble
opinion, Canada should remain neutral on the Ottoman Armenian
question, avoid pro-Armenian resolutions and statements by political
leaders, and work for reconciliation between Turks and Armenians.
Promoting reconciliation is what fits the Canadian image best, and
what Canadian diplomacy does well.Yours sincerely,Prof. Ozay Mehmet

              Atrocities unforgettable

              By Theodore G. Karakostas

              Tuesday, August 28, 2007

In response to Joe Fitzgerald's excellent column ("Watertown
remembers what the ADL chooses to forget," Aug. 20), the overwhelming
support being extended to the Armenians in their efforts to gain
recognition for the Armenian genocide is heartening, and serves to
bring attention to the atrocities and crimes against humanity being
perpetrated by Turkey up to the present day.

It is ironic that Abraham Foxman and the national Anti-Defamation
League seek to placate Turkey considering the widespread anti-Semitism
that has accompanied the rise of fundamentalism in Turkey. During the
spring of 2005, Hitler's "Mein Kampf" was a best seller in Turkey, and
a film with anti-Semitic and anti-American overtones was a box office
smash at Turkish cinemas. During World War II, members of the xxxish
community in Turkey shared the fate of their Greek and Armenian
neighbors, and were devastated by a discriminatory tax that was
imposed on non-Muslims and were deported into Anatolia from which many
              never returned.

              Speaking out

Sir, - W.J. Strauss urges xxxs to resist the urge to acknowledge the
known genocide of the Armenians ("xxxs must stay away from this
controversy," Letters, August 26). He claims that denial of the
Armenian genocide for political gain (or to avoid perceived political
damage) will prove that xxxs and Israel are not guided by
self-interest. Quite the opposite; and Strauss's logic is the
foundation of the current crisis in the ADL's credibility.

The only countries to ban Franz Werfel's epic about the Armenian
genocide, The Forty Days of Musa Dagh, were Turkey and Germany. Werfel
was initially criticized in xxxish circles for not making use of
xxxish history, instead choosing an Armenian experience. Yet the
relevance was fully realized by heroic resisters in the ghettos during
              the Holocaust.

              History, tragedy and genocide

Re "xxxish group recognizes Armenian genocide," Aug. 23

I hope Anti-Defamation League National Director Abraham Foxman will
reconsider Rabbi Hillel's summary of the Bible: "What is hateful to
you, do not to your fellow man. That is the entire law; all the rest
is commentary." There can be no adequate justification for such a
blatant, calculated half-measure in response to any genocide. It is
ironic and tragic that it was issued from the leader of one of the
most prominent xxxish groups in the country. Today, he does not speak
              for me.

Foxman's refusal to back a congressional resolution acknowledging the
Armenian genocide is understandable. To do so would diminish the
events of World War II and demonstrate that this tragic incident is
no more horrific than that which has happened to others. The Chinese
suffered their own genocide at the hands of the Japanese during World
War II, yet there is little written about, let alone official
              recognition given for, this atrocity.

Although what happened in Europe was tragic, it is unfortunately just
another footnote in history of human cruelty. The Irish, Cambodians,
Africans, Native Americans, Chinese and Armenians have all
experienced their own genocides. Only one group has demanded that its
experience be given priority over all others.

applauds the ADL for finally acknowledging the Armenian genocide as a
              genocide.

As a community with firsthand knowledge and experience of the ravages
of genocide, we have a particular moral obligation to stand up and
ask our government to recognize what we know as true: that 1.5
million Armenians were systematically slaughtered in a
government-sponsored campaign of genocide against them. We urge the
ADL to continue its leadership in the fight against hate by
supporting the pending congressional resolution recognizing the
              Armenian genocide as such.

Gas chambers, death squads, torture beyond imagining. All in pursuit of wiping out of an entire race. No, not Hitler's Final Solution - but the secret slaughter that inspired him

(London based newspaper publishes anonymous article that goes to great lengths to provide witness accounts of the Armenian genocide, cites Winston Churchill and references Robert Fisk discovering photographs documenting the genocide in Deutsche Bank's archives - the bank was financing a railway in the region at the time - pictures depict manner in which Armenians were systematically rounded up and driven to their death; Fisk explains the manner in which Armenian women appeared in the pictures and the manner they were treated during the tragedy; Fisk also describes certain images reflecting the sheer brutality of the treatment of Armenians; explains what caused the genocide and the course of events on 4/24/1915 when Armenian intellectuals were rounded up; explains several accounts of specific brutal acts - disembowlments, eyes gouged out, crucifixions, concentration camps and manner in which Turks carried out campaign to eradicate Armenians while distorting truth of actual events to the world; discusses that military officers admitted to use of code words at subsequent criminal trials; cites Henry Morgenthau [god bless that lil mamser] as to his accounts of brutal acts; Armenians marched to their death - worse than massacre; also provides accounts of Turks assisting Armenians and subjecting themeselves to certain peril; and, talks about how the use of the word genocide has become hotly contested ahead of Turkey's potential joinder with the EU, Turkey's view of events differ greatly with historical facts and Armenian opposition to Turkey's acceptance into EU based on Turkey's refusal to acknowledge genocide)

(Kansas City newspaper republishes excerpts of Jpost opinion piece concluding that Israel may be sensitive to Turkish relations but a state which protests holocaust denial everywhere cannot aid and abet genocide denial elsewhere; "Kansas City" is a great country standard by the way)

(Boston newspaper publishes editorial opinion piece re: Turkey's refusal to observe the historical truth of its own history which provides eyewitness accounts of the Armenian tragedy that unfolded before them; cites author/historian Taner Akcam as source for witness accounts in article and that despite such accounts Turkey recalcitrantly suggests that the historical record is in doubt; also explains cause of tragedy and basis for Turkey's denial; refrences war trials, Treaty of Sevres, and Turkeys subsequent refusal to comply with treaty and contemporaneous agressive acts towards Greece; cites Foxman as stating the use of genocide is a moral issue [oh, ok and the use of Holocaust is a political one] and ADL's new genocide recognition position was an attempt "to lower rhetoric and unite us"; scolds Turkey for showing less flexibility than Foxman and quotes Sensoy as saying events occurred during war and known fact that some Armenians sided with Russians but open to commission to investigate events; opines that investigation unnecessary in light of weight of evidence in favor of genocide; discusses Turkey's desperation genocide diplomacy intimating that recogntion would strain relationships including those with Armenian and opines that despite stress placed on relationships, Congress should not be troubled in acknowledging historical fact; concludes that Turkey should fess up to the crime and move on)

(Armenian paper publishes article detailng interview with American J-ewish genocide scholar that takes Israel and Turkey to the mat accusing Turkey of being brutes and Israel of being their long time biatch; scholar debunks ADL's grounds for opposing political recognition - i.e. safety of Turkish J-ews; states claim of pending danger to Turkish j-ews amounts to political blackmail; concludes that Turkey's acceptance into EU would be dead in water if one Turkish J-ew was harmed; determines that real issue is why does Turkey's bullying tactics work; claims that when Turkey came to D.C. in February 2007 and met with U.S. J-ewish lobby most J-ewish leaders did not agree with Turkey's position re: danger to Turkish J-ews but some like Foxman did; made import of American J-ews having to teach Israel how to be a good xxx - take care of all not only you; recalls Turkish pressure on Israel re: genocide issue going back to 1979 when Turkey compelled Israel's non attendance at a genocide conference in Tel Aviv; points to differences between right-wing conservative factions in J-ewish community that put Israel above all else and majority of American J-ewish community being universalistic and observing Armenian genocide)

(same paper publishes another article that oh so inconspicuously calls Turkey a liar; accuses ADL of actually almost recognizing genocide and that ADL's waffling has become a PR fiasco; quotes Yiddish proverb - half truth is a whole lie; ADL's qualified recognition was subsequently coupled with its pleasing one of its masters - Turkey; references recent displays of Turkey's desperation diplomacy after ADL's 'almost' shift to right side of history on Armenian genocide recognition; concludes that ADL could not have been serious in believing that Turkey wants to reconcile its distortion with overwhelming evidence in support of historical facts re: genocide because to do so would be admitting that they've been lying for 92 years; inquires about the historians Turkey will proffer for independent examination when it is well known that the overwhelming concesus of historians is that Armenians suffered genocide b/c if they are on Turkey's payroll then the ADL has impinged their own credibility and relevance; concludes that the passage of time has not diminished the Armenian demand for justice including U.S. recognition)

Boston Armenians: ADL guilty of genocide denial

By MATT RAND JERUSALEM POST CORRESPONDENT
                    Boston

Members of the Armenian community here still say the Anti-Defamation
League is complicit in "genocide denial," despite the ADL's recent
acknowledgment that the murder of Armenians was "tantamount to
                    genocide."

The Armenian Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem, Torkom Manoogian, lays
a wreath in the city, marking the anniversary of the mass killing of
                    Armenians in Turkey.
                    Photo: AP [file]

The Boston-area Armenians also said the world's failure to stop the
murder of Armenians during WWI had made the Holocaust possible.

They are pressing the ADL to lobby on their behalf for official
recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the US government.

"If the world had done something when the [Armenian] Genocide
happened, they would have prevented the Holocaust," said Sarkis
Antreassian, as he sat with the owner of the Arax grocery store in
Boston's Watertown suburb as the latter helped an Israeli in the
checkout line. Watertown is home to a large Armenian community.

"Hitler said, when he was killing the xxxs: 'Who remembered the
Armenians? Nobody remembered the Armenians, so nobody will care about
the xxxs.' So he kept killing them," Antreassian reasoned.

The ADL had "upset a lot of Armenians," he said, added that the US
was hesitant to openly acknowledge the genocide because of the
American military bases on "the occupied Armenian land" and the
conflict it would create with millions of Kurds [in eastern Turkey]
who where living "on the Armenian land too."

But he was optimistic that things would work out in the end.

"Sooner or later it [the Armenian Genocide] will be accepted," said
Antreassian. "I don't know if I'm going to see that, but it will be
accepted. You can't keep denying. It's getting worse and worse every
year. When the whole world accepts it, the United States has to
accept it. Maybe not too soon, but it will happen."

Other Armenians also said it was a moral imperative for the ADL to
                    officially recognize the Armenian Genocide.

"Have we [the Armenians] ever denied the reality of the Holocaust?
Never. We would never dream of doing so," Tatul Sonentz Papazian, the
executive director of the Armenian Relief Society, said outside
                    Watertown's Armenian Cultural Association building.

He was surprised the ADL had not officially recognized the genocide,
he said, since it was an organization whose "basis is on morality.
You know - defending those who can not defend themselves against
people who attack them... They pretend to be something that they are
not. They've become a highly politicized agency of Israel."

"They should tell it like it is," Sonentz Papazian added.

The ADL preached "tolerance, but practiced divisiveness and denial,"
said Armenian National Committee representative Grace Kehetian
Kulegian. She suggested the ADL echoed the "rhetoric of the Turkish
government," and said she hoped the xxxish organization would end its
"truly unfortunate affiliation with genocide denial."

"We cannot join with the ADL when they refuse to recognize the
genocide," added Watertown Councilor-at-Large Marilyn Petitto
                    Devaney.

The suburb's large Armenian community is backing a proclamation
sponsored by Petitto Devaney to suspend cooperation with the ADL in
                    an anti-bigotry program.

"The ADL has no part in this [the "No Place for Hate" program], and
we should not allow partnership with them," said Petitto Devaney, who
sits on the Governor's Council that oversees state judges'
                    nominations.

The councilwoman said she was motivated by a friend of hers whose
grandmother only revealed that she had been raped during the Armenian
Genocide, at the age of 12, about five years before she died.

Another friend, Petitto Devaney said, told her that "his mother never
talked about her surviving and losing all her family in the genocide.
But on her death bed, she said in Armenian: 'They're coming for us
                    now.'

"So for them, and all who died... [and for the] survivors, I offer
                    this proclamation."

According to the proclamation, the ADL denied the "facts of the
horrific Armenian Genocide" and "deprived the Armenian people of a
                    right to their history."

Saying that they had never "negated" the "painful events of 1915-1918
perpetrated by the Ottoman Empire against the Armenians as massacres
and atrocities," the Anti-Defamation League denied claims it had
shown any disrespect for Armenian history. At the same time, the ADL
said that lobbying on behalf of the Armenians would not improve
                    Turkish-Armenian relations.

What if I find someone else when looking for you? My soul shivers as the idea invades my mind.

                      -----------------------------------------------------------------

Although Mr. Dershowitz may have not been an explicit Armenian genocide denier in the past, the below reveals his leaning as an extreme Pro-Israeli, Pro- U.S. xxxish lobby and pro- Holocaust as unique event which could reasonably lead one to believe that his position blasting ADL for recognizing genocide was more a power play on his own part and an anomaly re: his real position as to whether Israel and the U.S. should officially recognize Armenian genocide. Up until ADL controversy, he was a rabid supporter of all issues promoted by the ADL - Ahmadenijad, attacking President Carter and criticizing literary works scrutinizing the impact the U.S. J-ewish lobby is having on U.S. foreign policy. He also promotes revenge as a natual, ordinary response to Holocaust deniers and anti-semites and claims pre-emptive strike against Iran is self-defense b/c even threatening Israel's sovereignty with rhetoric is violence subject to a response. And, lately, he has demonstrated that he is a ultra-conservative moonbat whose beliefs coincide with neocons - e.g. erosion of civil liberties is a necessary evil to protect the nation --> sounds pretty much like Nazi germany)

I do not necessarily agree with the whole of these articles but they are provided to give insight on the broad views surrounding Israel, zionism, the J-ewry's ethno-centric hostility and actual need for anti-semitism as it suffers politically when anti-semitism diminishes. The latter article is an essay full of citatons to other literary, historical sources.
