- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)

- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

I doubt any one said any of that. The only reason they could bring is that they do not want to spoil relations with turkey.
Here is a politician from 2007 saying the truth is "undecided". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPyM2j_wGKM

I think that a politician openly supporting Turkey on this issue, through outright denial, is a thing of the past.

Carl Bildt... The opposition parties and other politicians as well as newspaper columnists have questioned Carl Bildt’s suitability as Sweden’s Foreign Minister for his private stands on international issues as well as his private affairs as a businessman with interest in Russian gas giant Gazprom, and Lundin Petroleum, an oil company with activities in war-torn Sudan.

It seems our Genocide recognition always seems to be stopped by people who have their dirty hands in OIL.

    Εύξεινος Πόντος Στοκχόλμης
    EVXINOS PONTOS STOCKHOLM ‐ SWEDEN
Οι Ποντιακές παραδόσεις συνεχίζονται και στην Σουηδία

    Press release

    Finally a historic resolution

    Stockholm

    March 11, 2010

It is with great joy that we announce that today, Thursday March 11 the Swedish Parliament has voted for the recognition of the Genocide of the Pontian Greeks and the Christian minorities in Ottoman Turkey. Our association Evxinos Pontos Stockholm congratulates and applauses the Parliament’s decision to recognize the Genocide. We believe that this recognition will strengthen the Turkish state’s democratization and the ongoing research about the Genocide.

Our association wants first and for most thank the Armenian and Assyrian National Federations for the great cooperation that we had all these years in this matter. Without this cooperation, it wouldn’t be possible to carry on this long, hard and complicated process. We would also like to thank all the members of Parliament that have supported our work all these years and with their votes made it possible for us to have a recognition of the Genocide. At the same time we would like to thank the members of Parliament Hans Linde and Fredrik Malm and the former member of Parliament Tasso Stafilidis for their help to present our plead in the Swedish Parliament.

    Our president about the recognition

    – This is a redress for our forefathers. The recognition is an historic event, not just for Sweden but for the whole world. The recognition is the result of our hard work all these years together with the Armenians and the Assyrians here in Sweden. We have shown the world that justice always wins at the end and history cannot be rewritten by nations or individuals. The Genocide is an historic event, one of the darkest pages of world history books and we hope that Sweden’s recognition will open the eyes of other democratic countries around the world and do the same. We humbly thank all individuals, organizations and members of Parliament that have worked for the recognition of the Genocide, says the association’s president Konstantinos Fraggidis.

Evxinos Pontos Stockholm will continue to support our Swedish society with
information so that we all can continue further with an international recognition. Once again we want to present our gratitude to all that have helped us to carry out this recognition in the Swedish Parliament.

    For the association’s board,
    Konstantinos Fraggidis
    President

Turkey protests Sweden Armenia 'genocide' vote

Turkey has withdrawn its ambassador to Sweden after the parliament voted narrowly to describe as genocide the killing of Armenians in World War I.
The Turkish government condemned the resolution, saying it was "based upon major errors and without foundation".
The Swedish government opposed the opposition resolution but it passed by one vote after some MPs voted against party lines.
It comes days after a US congressional panel passed a similar resolution.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan cancelled a visit to Stockholm scheduled next week and issued a statement criticising the vote.
"Our people and our government reject this decision based upon major errors and without foundation," said the statement.

    MASS KILLINGS OF ARMENIANS
Hundreds of thousands of ethnic Armenians killed by Ottoman Turks in 1915-6
Many historians and the Armenian people believe the killings amount to genocide
Turks and some historians deny they were orchestrated
More than 20 countries regard the massacres as genocide

Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt said the vote was a "mistake" but that it did not change the position of his government, which supports Turkey's entry into the EU.
The Swedish vote comes less than a week after the US House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee approved a similar resolution - by 23 votes to 22 - despite strong Turkish lobbying not to.

Turkey recalls ambassador from Sweden over Armenian genocide vote

    12 March 2010 | 00:00 | FOCUS News Agency

Ankara. Turkey has recalled its ambassador to Sweden for consultations after the Swedish parliament approved a resolution recognizing the Armenian genocide by the Ottoman Empire, local media reported, RIA Novosti reported.

Turkey has also canceled a scheduled visit of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the Scandinavian country.

Ankara last week recalled its ambassador to the United States for consultations after the Foreign Affairs Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives voted in support of a resolution condemning as genocide the killing of an estimated 1.5 million Armenians by Turks during World War I.

    I agree with Joseph`s post.

In addition that Turkey now has recalled its ambassador to Sweden, Turkey`s Prime Minister Tayip Erdogan has canceled his trip to Sweden.

    Bye, bye Erdo.

Great news. What makes it great is that it recognizes the Assyrian, Armenian, and Pontic Greek genocide. It was after all a genocide of Christian minorities in Turkey/Ottoman Empire. We should all be working together and that has always beens the weakness of the recognition cause; it was inability to work together. The Assyrian community which has a large diaspora in Sweden was the driving force.

    That's the important question.
I did watch the debates and the irony is that even those(members of the center-right coalition who is in power) who voted against recogntition, acknowledged that the Ottoman state indeed had committed a genocide against the Armenians, Assyrians and the Pontian Greeks but their argument was that it shouldn`t be the Swedish parliament to recognize genocides but rather Sweden`s judicial institutions or international law bodies to do that.

Another argument that was used by the "Nay"-sayers was that there was an agreement between the center-right parties to not recognize the genocide and therefore this agreement should be respected. Other "Nay"-sayers who even had co-sponsored the Genocide resolution but later got cold feet made the argument that they had to withdraw their support because there wasn`t a comprehensive majority among the Swedish parties and therefore couldn`t support the bill. They thought that it would be better to wait to next year when there would be probably more parties to support the Genocide bill.

Then there were those who thought that this was an issue for historians to deal with and not the politicians.
