I think the reason Crash won was because practically half of the Academy was it.

By bashing Crash, I am not siding with the other liberals who are calling the Academy and Hollywood homophobic for not awarding Brokeback Mountain. Both films should not have been nominated.

And the Oscar voters are people in the industry. Meryl Streep, Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg, everyone, from actors to directors to film editors to cinematographers.

I agree. The only difference between Brokeback Mountain and Crash was that they espoused different Hollywood liberal tenets, one being homosexuality and the other politically correct notions about race. It's usually a tug of war between these two in the crusade of 'tolerance'. I can't believe Walk the Line was not nominated. The Academy is full of crap and should be disbanded. Movies as it is are not "art". It is pure business and marketing. All films that are made in the name of "art" appeal only to niche audiences and therefore are not blockbuster successes. This years examples serve us well. Hollywood's dropping profits and slumping theatre ticket sales are another sign. Hollywood sucks these days, compared to any era before, and evidence of that would be no other era in Hollywood had more remakes and ones that turn out to be crap at that.

I thought it was interesting how the Palestinian film didn't win.

Yea, I bet it had nothing to do with the fact that Joos practically control 99% of Hollywood.

The Academy Awards are only fun for me because I like seeing the other nominees' faces after the winner's name is announced. They look so uncomfortable. That brings a smile to my face.

                I heard Crash was good.

Well, if you guys say it sucks, I guess it is good.

I'm speaking from experience, of course.
