Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

    .....

Palestinian leader to visit Baku this year
    Wed 20 April 2011 07:19 GMT | 3:19 Local Time
    Text size:

    Mahmoud Abbas
Palestine is keen to enhance relations with Azerbaijan, the Palestinian Authority's first ambassador in Baku has said.
"Common religion, traditions, customs and history unite our countries," Nassir Abdul Karim said in an interview with APA.
"There is a good foundation for this. Azerbaijan has always supported Palestine in international organizations, including the UN. This policy is still being continued. In its turn, Palestine supports Azerbaijan on the Karabakh problem. Another feature uniting us is that though Azerbaijan and Palestine are Muslim countries, they are secular societies.

"I think that there is great potential for economic, commercial, scientific and humanitarian relations between the two countries. Now we should improve the economic relations. Students from Palestine are studying in Baku. We need medical workers, engineers. Azerbaijan has great scientific potential in these spheres. Some of my relatives once studied in Baku. Moreover, there are good prospects for cooperation in culture, tourism and information exchange," he said.

Nassir Abdul Karim said Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas was expected to visit Azerbaijan by the end of the year:
“President Ilham Aliyev invited his Palestinian counterpart to Baku and the invitation was accepted with pleasure. A state visit requires long, serious preparation. Now we are dealing with the preparatory work. A date has not been set yet, but we are looking forward to organizing the visit by the end of the year. I was appointed to Azerbaijan by Mahmoud Abbas and he urged me to organize this visit. Now our embassy is seriously dealing with this work.”

Commenting on the recent settlement plan to give part of Jordanian land to Palestine, the ambassador said: “This is an idea of Israeli hardliners. We have no problems with Jordan and no territorial claims against our neighbour. The idea of joining Jordanian land to Palestine is groundless. The Palestinian territories were not seized by Jordan, but by Israel and we demand that Israel withdraw from our land.”

The ambassador said that negotiations on a settlement of the conflict were suspended currently. "The negotiations were de facto suspended. We intend to restore the contacts. xxxish settlements in the Palestinian territories must be ended. The only way to sustainable peace passes through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. US President Barack Obama said in his UN address last year that an independent Palestinian state must be established by September 2011. All over the world there is support for the idea of an independent Palestinian state."

Commenting on unrest in Arab countries, Nassir Abdul Kareem said: "We don’t intend to interfere in the domestic problems of other countries. Every country is unique and every society has its own dynamics of development. We advocate stable processes and non-violence everywhere."

But interestingly enough, the article does not mention if Armenia said they would vote in favour, just that Armenia has 'balanced approach'.
That's politics for "We don't favour either side but are willing to accept bribes to even the balance".

Yeah, that's true, we should get something from the Israeli's for not recognising Palestine. We wouldn't do it regardless, because of Artsakh, but it's still good to get something positive out of it. I really hope Azerbaijan votes for it (following Turkey) to disrupt Azeri-Israeli relations a bit.

In all, we shouldn't get to involved in the Palestinian/Israeli issue, not our region, and to messy in my opinion. We should just pursue whatever fits our national interests, more accurately for Artsakh.

How would Armenian recognition of Palestine affect Armenians in Jerusalem, especially the Armenian Quarter, and Armenians in israel in general? Another question to be raised is would israel be willing to forgo some of its military ties with azerbaijan if Armenia did not recognize Palestine. I think they would not, and to be honest israel probably does not care too much what Armenia decides, of course they would rather all nations reject the resolution, but they care more about the power players on the international stage.
Indeed. We should try to get something out of this in return. Maybe some kind of guarantee for the Armenian quarter, at the very least.
