I've got an idea too.. How about a drunk abusive father chasing his son around the house? You can change perspectives back and forth and the camera shake will work w/ the panic and chase.

Yeah, I had one or two good ideas about kids too. But since it's a school film, I didn't want to go through casting. Either way, it's tough finding a child to work with (professional or not) and this type of storyline would work best with a younger child.
I felt the need to keep this project simple; no professional actors. Project 3 which is due in December can go through casting of actors but I'm also thinking of making that my first documentary.
One of the main problems with some of the projects we saw in class seemed to be everyone tried to make the "chase" the most important part of the film. Although that's the point, a lot of them lack a good story. I didn't want to think of a reason for two people to chase each other, I wanted a good story and that's how I came up with my idea.
However, your idea had me thinking. I have a younger cousin I can use for the son. Good kid, he's not too young but he'll look just right. I can use my director of photography from my first short film as the father character. He enjoys acting for short films so I sent him over an e-mail.
The story I came up with is quite nice; I didn't want to throw it away. I hope he's in because if so, I'm all ready.
It's all good as long as he agrees. I really don't know anybody else for the part and don't feel like doing a casting call. It may take him a while to respond so now I'm nervous.
Thanks though. I'll let you guys know what's going on.
By the way, I know this is just a college class and I'm not into film school yet. But there are reasons why I care so much for this specific class and each project.
1) From each cinema course, two films get selected for the end of semester screening which is held on campus. That means, any two films from my class will get chosen. We have two projects to do; this one and other one which is anything we desire. So it's a little tough, there are nearly 30 students in this class. I can already tell who is planning what and I can say there are really about eight or nine really talented people. That's why I don't want to make an average chase film, I want it to be top notch.
2) I'm hoping this professor (Chairman of Film-TV Department) will write me a letter of recommendation. He'll be writing the letter based on my class projects so I must make these as good as possible.
