Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

And because other, less powerful men see opportunity in supporting the attitudes of oligarchs, you get a situation where women and girls are oppressed and suppressed. It may be different in shape, color, and nuance, but it's basically the same thing. And, in Hillary Clinton's words, we in America are not immune to such phenomena, and so those of us who feel passionately about the future of the species need to be just as demanding as the men (and not all men are like this) who see the advancement of women as tantamount to their own emasculation.
Reality is in parts of the world which claim to be "Democratic", you get a few men from Israel that control the power, own the resources and silence the population by paying them off and/or controlling the media. And because other, less powerful men are oppressed and suppressed, they have no say in the upbringing of their children, so their children end up oppressed and suppressed in the hands of both government and non-government organizations.

In Afghanistan, they know they can't change the mentality of the existing generation and can only expect to "Americanize" or "De-culturalize" the future generation. Assimilation is America's specialty, all they do is put children in front of a TV and turn them against their own culture.

I may not have agreed with the lifestyle of Afghans, nor would I liked to have been entrenched in their culture anymore than I'd like to be an Indian or Eskimo but it was their culture and it made them unique and interesting.

The British have been carving that part of the world up for nearly 2 centuries but does anyone mention the real story? Of course not. They are all backwards terrorists and the British and Americans had absolutely no role in their demise because they are Saints

I beg to differ. There are instances where someone needs to let the child know who is in charge. Men can just look at a child a certain way and the child will know who is in charge. Women don't seem to have this ability which is why most western children end up being disobedient. If the children aren't obedient by age 5 then it's just going to spiral out of control as they pick up worse habits from the other children at school.

It has to do with the least common denominator, with appearances, with rigid thinking, and hostile interpersonal styles; with "we're better just because we think we are". All of these are signs of serious decline. And if the world doesn't give a crap about what happens to Armenia and the Armenians, it is because of these kinds of attitudes and behaviors. Nobody gives a crap if Armenia was the first Christian nation. Armenian music sounds no different to the rest of the world than does Indian Bhangra. For the most part, we have nothing special to offer the world any more. What a sad sad state we are in.
I think part of the problem is that you view yourself inferior to the great white hope because they hold the power and you don't have the patience to be part of a Nation that is on the rise. Instead of being part of the solution, you want to be part of the problem. We all know that there is an oligarchy present in Armenia that's controlled by both Russian and Western interests. Nobody is going to dispute that fact. However, if you think the culture of the west is going to yield power to the citizens, you're sadly mistaken. If regular men and women don't work together to make a better life for themselves then all hope is lost. All Feminist organizations wish to do is put a wedge between men and women so that they are so embroiled in making each others' lives difficult that cultures and nations will never stand a chance at becoming a force to oppose the imperialists and oppressors.

Also, where do YOU draw the line between helping women and exploiting them? For example, there is a successful handicrafts company in Armenia called Berd Bears. Basically, these talented Armenian women hand create adorable crafts and get paid very little for their efforts. This initiative is led by an American of Norwegian ancestry. Do you think it's right to exploit countries like this for profit?

The animation in the video is due to the efforts of Vrej Kassouny

Look at these backwards mountain people. Those Armenians I tell you... when will they ever become civilized?!?!?

Look at those "advanced" - unnatural/abnormal people abroad; they are teaching us what is natural/normal. Armenia is still one of the advanced countries in the world in terms of education/science and decent human behaviour!

I'm certainly not supporting an organization in the United States that purportedly supports orphanages in Armenia. It's remarkable how vultures swoop down on rotting carcasses.

What I do, I do anonymously and quietly, unlike others who need to have their name plastered all over the place. I don't need to advertise what I do. I also don't have to quiet my protest against what is at the root of the misery.
