Slavery or Racism?

That's a general question and I don't see how the two general concepts are related. Slavery may or may not be based on racism. Racism may or may not lead to slavery; Neither one implies the other.

However, if you are referring specifically to the slavery in North America and US history, that's a different issue. Considering how slaves were predominantly of a specific race and brought from specific parts of the world, I guess it's not hard to see how racism played a big part in shaping the slavery picture in this specific context.

Thats not a real issue. Since racisme describes a superior attitude towards another "race"....we know different human races can't exist..so we speak of ethnicity.....

Different human races can exist and do exist. Humans are a species and within that we have differing races, or population groups/breeds, just like dogs.

It is said that if we take a couple of tribes and isolate them from everything else, they would still contain the genetic makeup of the entire human gene pool.

Isn't that cuz their the same species, anything farther apart than the same species can't have sex w/ each other, or can but w/ grotesque consenquences. So pretty much any human can have sex w/ any other human and give birth to a normal/healthy baby. Because their both human.

Every time I look at the title of this thread I am tempted to answer that the chicken came first.


Anyway I think racism came first. I am sure even before it was coined 'racism' people who were from different 'caves' () probably disliked eachother and were 'racist', as people tend to be. It seems logical that someone would enslave another person they regard to be inferior to them. Because they regard these people as a whole (and not just one person) as inferior, they are racist. So racism comes before slavery.
