  • Foreign Language

Since I'm probably going to have to take a foreign language class in college, which do you recommend? I don't want to learn Spanish because I live in Southern California, where it's hardly ever spoken at all. I'm thinking French...

French is definitely a beautiful language, and would make your trips to Montreal (which I recommend) a lot funner.

I took two Russian classes in CEGEP, and intend to continue Russian at the university level.

    Really depends on your interests..

      Things to consider:

Depending on what you wanna go into, maybe some language would be more benefitial than others?

Look up which languages are most used around the world...Chinese is a good one to know in terms of many aspects.

Do you wanna stay where you are? Do you have a place you wanna live some day?

I am studying French at the university level (its my minor) along with Russian (which I know already) and Armenian. I am sure they will be useful in the future to me, but I chose them based on personal taste. If you like French, and you think you will enjoy it, choose it.

You should learn Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese, but probably Mandarin), especially now that they will be the next superpower, militarily and economically.

We'll see how much Spanish you'll need when Chinese troops occupy Southern California.

11 years later, China makes the slippers you wear, and holds your debt. I'd say you better learn the tongue of your soon to be occupiers.
