I can't believe this is still in debate...
I thought the Darwinian Trials (Monkey Trials whatever) in I believe South Carolina really shed light on the thought processes of the creationists...
"I ain't from no ape!! Yeeeehhhaaawwww!!"
That's basically what all this boils down to...creationists in MY THEORY feel superior to every other living organism on the planet thus why it would be inconceivable for them to have evolved from apes.
"INVCONCEIVABLE!!"
Really natural selection is a better term to describe what REALLY happens in the evolutionary process. This is that animals/plants and so on with characteristics that were not beneficial to survival DIED leaving behind the long string of survivors that adapted to their environment better than those who went by the way side.
We should at least all recognize natural selection as an innate truth that surrounds us everyday.
There is plenty of EVIDENCE supporting evolution which can not be said about the creationists’ theory. I mean there really isn't that much empirical evidence supporting ANYTHING in the Bible. Like Mt. Ararat being the home of Noah’s ark .... right. Or how about where the Arc of the Covenant is located? We don't even know if Jesus was WHITE, yet we go even FURTHER back and try to support claims from the Old Testament ... from the book of Genesis as in the FIRST things ever written for the religion!! LOL
On the other hand we have DNA evidence, fossils, opposable thumbs, and those fish that they thought were extinct that crawl up onto land with their little feet!
My girlfriend is an anthropologist with a degree in anthropology (duh!) from University of Michigan. For fear that she might think a good deal of Armenians are not brightest bulbs on the tree I think I'll refrain from telling/showing her this thread.
While we debate this most fundamental of issues she and I DISCUSS (<- read something ppl on bulletin boards are incapable of actually doing) some of the more intriguing evolutionary topics floating around today such as the Multiple ape theory (I think that's what it's called heheh HEY I'm the music major ) This theory basically poses the idea that we evolved from different apes associated with different regions thus why we have major physical/psychological differences from region to region.
There are lots of other interesting ideas around these days, but why share them when a good portion of the ppl here are still debating this tired old issue...anyone have a dead horse to beat?
PS there are scientific "theories" that I bet some of the most adamant creationists here definitely believe in like the plate tectonic theory. Can we definitively prove that it is real? I suppose earthquakes and mountains and fault lines are just silly and pseudoscience LMAO. Religion is the biggest pseudoscience EVER imo!!
There are also some scientific laws that break down at certain times as well like physics and black holes, however we still use physics to define the physical world around us everyday.
A lot of ppl look for God and unfortunately all they ever find is religion...
Boo
