To receive social security benefits (after retirement) You would have to have had to work full time (40-50 hours) for about 10 years. That doesn't apply to many Americans who live below the poverty line.

Wait what? If you are below the poverty line, aren't you more likely to have to work several jobs (more than 40-50 hours a week)? Sounds to me like you are trying to say the poor are poor because they work less than the rich? That's .. ehm ... kinda ignorent

That's the working class Sip. There is an entire underclass that isn't even on record. The migrant workers are used in every "wealthy" country to harvest crops, do farm work and other seasonal jobs.
