It's an idiotic argument. If we're all prostitutes, the word "prostitute" loses all meaning. You can just use "human" instead.

Originally posted by anileveExtra, that is a very disturbing statement. I really hope that it came out of some innocent rage rather than your true belief. First of all I'd like to state something in guys defense, and again you have a good selection of rotten apples as in every pile, but it is a lie that all men ever want is sex. Sure that it's a big part of it, but heck I want some good sex too! I think that men have been told from their childhood that they must obey their hormones and practice this disobeying as much as possible, because...well because it's a manly thing to do. It's somehow looked down upon or ridiculed if a man hasn't had as many sexual experiences, and that again is a pressure from the society.
I agree, tricking a man into marriage is wrong, but so is tricking a woman into bed just for a one night stand. Maybe that's why most men want prostitution to be legalized. This way they don't have to waste their time with dinner and the movies. They could just go down to business.
As for prostitution being legalized? All it does is degrade women, and spread sexually transmitted diseases.Last edited by ExtraHye; 05-07-2004, 04:20 PM.

... again, here I would draw parallel to the porn industry. The actors and actresses are protected under the umbrella of the law and enjoy benefits such as regular checks for diseases etc. Just recently the porn industry in southern california was temporarily shut down due to a health scare. This would NEVER happen if it was some sort of black market hidden underground operation like prostitution is right now.
Note that I'm not saying have no laws regarding prostitution. But something like strippers and stripping where in certain places and under certain conditions (i.e. keep underage kids away etc) it would be allowed.this post = teh win.

With that kind of reasoning you can allow anything. "People are gonna do it anyway, so lets legalize it." Without putting pressure on the hookers and the johns by incarcerating them the problem will not go away, it'll only increase. You're suggesting that STD's are the only reason prostitution is a bad thing, which is not true in my opinion.

Prostitution is a symptom of a societal diseases like poverty and lack of education. You want to legalize the symptom and ignore the diseases. That’s an easy way out.
