Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

If you call yourself 100% Armenian, you should learn Armenian, go to Armenia, and sustain your Armenian heritage or else its pointless in saying you are 100% Armenian. And make sure you marry an Armenian nobody else.

I am 100% Armenian, both my parents are Armenian.
Just because I dont speak or write it makes me less Armenian?
Like I told you the Armenians who survived the Genocide came to America around 1915-1920 wanted to be American and put the horrible thing behind them, they taught their kids to speak in English and be American, their kids taught their children the same values.
So their not real Armenians either?
Just because you dont speak in Armenian doesnt make you less Armenian.
I have never met any guy thats Armenian, so how would I marry one?
          I would be single forever.

It's sad, but for 99.9% of Amerikahais, being an "Armenian" is like wearing a favorite shirt on weekends or holidays.

Perhaps you can start working towards your "miracle" by stopping yourself from hanging out in bars and begin seeking Armenian organizations and youth groups.

Yes, you are biologically an Armenian and you do acknowledge the fact that you come from an Armenian lineage. However, based on the description of you lifestyle and the environment in which you live, your off-springs will not be Armenians. If you think that being an Armenian, or preserving your Armenian heritage, is important in your life then you simply have to take some measures to change your lifestyle and your environment. However, if you don't think that it's very important for you then, yeah, you are an Armenian by name only.

Before you make a decision one way or another, however, I suggest you take trip, a tour, to the Armenian Republic. There are many groups organized by young adults that might interest you. Or better yet, you may want to temporarily live in Armenia as a volunteer. Just know that there are many young adults today from America just like you who live and work in Armenia. And there are many-many more who spend their summers there. However, you first have to discover the Armenian spirit within you.

And one last thing: It does not matter whether you are 100% Armenian, 50% Armenian, or 25% Armenian, what matters is whether or not you have the Armenian spirit dwelling within you.

Birth Right Armenia would be an excellent place for someone like you. I know some people who are involved with the organization. If you want, I can help you get in touch with them: Birth Right Armenia: http://www.birthrightarmenia.org/

                Some more organizations if interested.

I came to the states when I was little, and my parents made sure my first language was Armenian, and talked to me in Armenian at home and always implemented Armenian culture and morals on me. Therefore, I had a desire to go back to my motherland every year. To always sustain my "Armenian" in spite of where I am and who is around me. I have read many books about Armenian history, politics and many things. There is a difference in being an Armenian in blood and being an Armenian in spirit. And when you say that they taught their kids to "speak in English and be American," that is wrong because where ever Armenians have went (this is a Armenian moral) they have always sustained their language, culture, and morals at home and made sure their kids would never forget their Armenian heritage.

                    Re: White people dating Armenian

The Armenians who came to America around 1915 did keep their traditions and customs but wanted to be American unlike the Armenians who come to America today..
My grandmother said we only speak English with other people and in public, yes my parents know Armenian- not that well, felt there was no need for me to learn it since i grew up in a non-armenian area where everyone spoke english.
Just because you dont speak the language or write it does not make you less armenian, i would not be in this forum if i didnt feel armenian.
