You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)

- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

  • Onnik Krikorian, ''fake'' anti-Armenian journalist.

Onnik Krikorian is a journalist and photojournalist of Armenian (*highly controversial) and English descent who has been resident in the Republic of Armenia since 1998.

For those who do not know him, he is a self-pronounced journalist pretending to be Armenian, but whose articles are made just to critizise Armenia and the Armenian culture. He is working for Western agencies and is very pro-Georgian and pro-Azerbaijan.

As citizens of Georgia waited in anticipation of the New Year, two high profile scandals were instead set to dampen the holiday spirit. As part of plans to decentralize government, a Soviet-era statue to thise who died during World War II was set to demolished in Georgia's second largest city to make room for the construction of a new parliament building. A mother and her child were tragically killed.

I quote some of his reactions to an interesting discussion on his blog, where, even if the subject is about Georgia, he mentions how ''bad'' Armenians are by mocking about this subject, defending Georgia because he loves Georgia so much.

He also frequently uses biased Western agencies such as the Freedom House, to prove that Georgia is more ''democratic'' than for example Armenia (ofcourse, Western agencies are ignoring the genocide that is committed till this day on the Armenians, be it the destruction of Armenian heritage in Georgia/Azerbaijan/Turkey or the killings on Armenians and other ethnic minorities in these countries, but this does not bother him).

Yes, I understand, such attempts at decentralization are underway in Georgia, unlike Armenia and I suppose Azerbaijan too (both of which are less democratic according to Freedom House reports).
However, Georgia is considered more democratic and less corrupt than Armenia since the 2005 Rose Revolution although there is much to be done and some regression. Meanwhile, there are more concerns in Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Bloggers pointing out the destruction of Armenian heritage in Georgia, are being neglected by him by saying ''the Georgian Church is another story'', as to say it is not politically linked (ofcourse, a country where minorities are being offended, beaten, killed, whose churches are being ruined, is very democratic).

However, Georgia is more democratic and less corrupt. The power of the Georgian Church, however, is another matter,
He points out, (neglecting our history of wars, other countries trying to commit genocide on us, an earthquake which were the reasons of people fleeing Armenia, including minorities) that because we do not have minorities, is shows how ''less'' democratic we are.

Unfortunately, however, Armenia has even more problems to sort out, and the fact that it is a virtually mono-ethnic country says a lot about its level of tolerance. Hell, most Armenians don’t want to stay here.
He ''truly'' believes Saakashvili is a democratic chosen leader. This just shows what kind of person he is. We Armenians are happy that we are not moving towards Georgia's example!

Meanwhile, Armenia’s position is moving closer to Azerbaijan than Georgia. If you can’t accept that, well, what can I say? It’s not a surprise and such an attitude is partly responsible for the situation Armenia is in. Had the Diaspora spoken out during Kocharian’s reign, things might have been a lot different.
Besides this article, all of his other articles have anti-Armenian clues.

Post articles of other anti-Armenian fake ''journalists'' working for foreign agencies, pretending to want the ''best'' for Armenia, but whose sole purpose is one of breaking down the Armenian morale.

(These include website like www.armenianow.com and www.a1plus.am).

      LOL, soros shat him out!
For the first time in more than 600 years, Armenia is free and independent, and we are therefore obligated
to place our national interests ahead of our personal gains or aspirations.

Onnik Krikorian again finds something to criticize, when someone mentions the Armenian hero's Andranik, Garegin Njdeh, Gevorg Chavush:

You’re also definitely not opposition because they simply wouldn’t quote a member of the ruling Republican party (who also glorify Njdeh, an Armenian military figure who worked with the Nazis, promoted the concept of “race worship” as well as Aryan supremacy, and committed ethnic cleansing).
Onnik Krikorian, not wanting to admit the anti-Armenian policies of Azerbaijan, and constantly saying Armenians have equal faults in the events that happened (forgetting that the Turks/Azeris are the ones whose ideology is based upon the destruction of the Armenian nation):

Nationalism, xenophobia and racism is the reason why this region is in such a mess, and there is not one country that is without those promoting such values and willing to stab anyone, including those people in the same country who have different views, in the back.
Onnik Krikorian, constantly stating that we must live in peace with Azerbaijan and Georgia, ignore the anti-Armenian politics and the destruction of Armenian heritage, because they are not to blame, because Armenia is a terror-state aswell:

Democracy is about tolerance for the views of others, and Armenia’s future lies in peaceful co-existence with its neighbors.
        Alas,

        Onnik Azergeorgian

and while Armenians inflate the death toll and fail to mention the pogroms as part of a mutual downward spiral into inter-ethnic violence,
Onnik stating that Armenians are inflating the death toll during the pogroms in Azerbaijan and are failing to mention the real reason of the pogroms, that is a ''downward spiral into inter-ethnic violence'', which justifies mass-rape and torture of Armenians, according to him.

He is even more anti-Armenian than some Turkish bloggers, amazing.

Thanks Tigranakert for this coverage of Onnik Krikorian and hope you continue. He is a danger to Armenia and should have been considered persona non grata a long time ago with statements such as the last one about Sumgait.

Seems like a mostly OK guy, based on his opponents anyway (you know the character of someone by knowing the character of those who call him an enemy).
As a result of a long-time-ago first-hand experience I always thought of him as a bit insincere (but that was before I knew that many Armenians were much worse). He also has an "only following the clients orders" approach when, wearing his web-designer hat, he is asked to write copy which he knows is false (which is an attitude difficult to reconcile with impartial journalism).

But anyone who has these opponents in Armenia and elsewhere must be consistantly doing something right - so I should rethink my opinion of him.

You can also know the character of someone by knowing the character of those who respect him, and considering this I think we're better off opposing him, especially now that you've voiced your opinion.

Re: Onnik Krikorian, ''fake'' anti-Armenian journalist.

This thread is old, but still valid.

I had no idea that anti-armenian-feral-feline is posting here as well with the same level of toxic sarcasm aimed at anything that remotely resembles Armenian nationalist thought. Not at all surprising, I say.

Indeed, I regret to have had a part to play in Onnik's so-called journalistic career by introducing him to a policy based publication, Mid-East Insight, through a friend who worked there. He got his first important journalistic break covering the Kurds in Iraq in that publication. I had no idea that a floodgate of anti-nationalist propaganda was going to be released into the Armenian related media. Anti-nationalism is his paradigm, and he has been very candid and vocal about it. He is an active member of a series of anti-nationalist forums and groups.

This alone cannot constitute an indictment in this day and age where nationalism is constantly under attack by globalist propagandists. It seems that the naive public is given the impression that Lord Acton's anti-nationalism was an innocent and idealistic rant. Far be it for us to accuse imperialists of imperialism today without being called a "conspiracy theorist," which the imperialist forces of this world enjoy throwing at their detractors at any given opportune moment.

Onnik is simply a product of this sort of construct where nationalism is evil and imperialism does not exist except in the delusional minds of nationalists. Of course, any sane person can notice that imperialists are more refined in their methodology with more tools and resources at their disposal to control and strangle target societies/nations than ever before, and little does Onnik know he is one of the best resources.

I compliment him on being a tool.

Re: Onnik Krikorian, ''fake'' anti-Armenian journalist.

<Another item of note: Yezidi Enclave and other anti-Armenian designs and Onnik's participation>

To all those who express frustration at Onnik's intentional omissions of Pan-Turkist malice and actions toward Armenians: You have to understand that eversince the British oil companies dispatched their favorite assassin Sidney Reilly into Baku to do nothing less than assassinate as many Armenians of influence in the oil industry as possible, the anti-Armenian bias in the "west" has been entrenched into the academic circles along with its directly proportional nemesis of Turkphilia.

The British and American (quite intertwined) oil interests were not merely Russophobes, as it is well documented, but also very much so Armenophobes. However, as is the natural course of events, the only serious study of Reilly's deeds and the relation to Armenia oil interests was done by pre-communist Romanian academics. This also is no coincidence, since the Romanian kingdom was about to grant Mantashev the concessions to their oil fields and had in fact rejected offers by Rotchschild Oil (the direct predecessor of BP), and if others had followed suit, the oil industry and the geopolitical aftereffects thereof would be quite different indeed. Naturally no mention of this is ever made in "western" academic circles that deal with this Reilly and the era he murdered in. Caspian oil, without doubt, was controlled by Armenians, despite claims otherwise, until the "Anglo-American" interests began to barge in in the late 19th and early 20th century precisely through such mechanisms as murder and sabotage exemplified by Sidney Reilly (the archetype for James Bond, by the way.)

Segue to today's world and anti-nationalist rantings that somehow only relates to Armenians:

Onnik's behavior is most certainly a predictable British Import into Armenian media that follows the same patterns of behavior of Turkophilia and Armenophobia as it has since the mid 19th century at least. I recall that the British government, through Onnik, was pushing for a Yezidi "enclave" in Armenia, and the target regions were Vayots Dzor and Zangezur, effectively cutting Armenia off from Iran and automatically affording the Pan-Turk Twins a direct and unhindered border. The inevitable stranglehold Armenia would be under should be crystal clear with the last direct border that is not overtly hostile, that with Iran, would be gone.

But that is all "ok", say Onnik and his ilk, since "nationalism will go away and the wolves and sheep will once again nap in the green pastures together in peace," and, due to Onnik's not exactly healthy sense of identity, it is not clear who he refers to as sheep or wolf. Armenians, whose ancient mascot emblem (totem) is the Khoy (Ram), or the pan-Turkist, whose obviously and explicitly stated mascot is the Gray Wolf, makes no difference to those "noble anti-nationalists" who don't see a point is such transient nonsense. They only see green pastures with many "oops" dead sheep and happy wolves, but they will certainly write into their future history books that there never were any sheep to begin with. That is usually how "anti-nationalists" exonerate themselves in denial of the obvious fact that they are merely Tools of Imperialism.

"Tool of Imperialism", quite a title indeed.

Indeed, this push for the Yezidi enclave should be stamped on every Armenian's mind when thinking of Onnik.
