Interesting you brought up SOFAZ. Do actually believe the if the amount of money they claim is there, actually is? Because I think that any number coming from Azerbaijan is probably not true.

I can't be sure because there is so little independent data and reporting coming out of Azerbaijan. My initial reaction would be to say no, I think it could be fake based on everything else reported by their media. However, as far as SOFAZ there is some credibility based on who runs it and its data available online. I still haven't looked into it enough to check for discrepancies to find something that proves the numbers are fake. But working on the assumption that the $37-38 billion figure is correct, I think if oil prices don't change, it'll run out in about 4 years.

Report: Global arms trade reached peak in 2014 since Cold War

Azerbaijan ranked 18th for arms import over the past four years

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov – APA. The volume of export-import operations of conventional arms made $74.25 billion in the world in 2014.

It was reflected in the report of the Centre for Analysis of World Arms Trade (CAWAT), APA reports.

Global arms trade reached a peak in 2014 since the Cold War. This figure was $60.364 billion in 2011, $58.352 billion in 2012, $57.2 billion in 2013. Totally global arms trade made $250.168 billion over the past four years.

The increase in the arms export in 2014 is due to the implementation of “mega deal” signed by the United States and a number of Middle Eastern countries.

The United States was the biggest arms exporter in 2014, with $30.385 billion. The top ten biggest arms suppliers include Russia, France, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Israel, Spain and Switzerland.

India ranked first for arms import with $11.29 billion, Saudi Arabia second with $7,439 billion and Taiwan third with $4,199 billion. The top ten also includes Australia, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Iraq, Indonesia and the United States.

According to the CAWAT report, over the past four years, Azerbaijan has spent $4.353 billion on arms import and took the 18th place among the largest arms importers in the world. The top twenty of the largest arms importer includes India (the first place with$28.777 billion), Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Australia, the United States, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Taiwan, Turkey, Egypt, Iraq, Venezuela, Algeria, Singapore, Pakistan, Morocco, Indonesia, Azerbaijan, Canada and Vietnam.

Armenian reports of Azerbaijani Army’s alleged losses untrue – Defense Ministry

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov – APA. Today’s Armenian media reports that the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan has allegedly lost three servicemen as a result of ceasefire violation are untrue, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry’s press service told APA.

The ministry said that reports released by Armenian media that the Armenians have killed three Azerbaijani servicemen, including non-commissioned officer Eldar Mammadov, are nothing but misinformation.

Note that, the rank of non-commissioned officer does not exist at Azerbaijan’s Armed Forces.

Just for the record, non-commissioned officer is not a rank but a generic description of any soldier above a private and below a commissioned officer.

Typically NCO would be a Lcpl, Corporal, a Sargent or equivalent.

Armies cannot exist without them !!
