Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

The author of that article is actually not a lesbian. She is married and has three kids.

Let's keep it cool guys, there's an interesting debate here and it shouldn't be ruined by using labels and unecessary adjectives against whoever.

I think the problem that some don’t understand is that man and woman are just too different to be treated the same way. Emotionally we are a world apart. We are like two opposite poles of a magnet. We are not the same but we can’t exist without the other. Gays have no polarity, they have been demagnetized.

Behind every great man stands a strong woman. Women have alot of potentials and I don’t see anybody here cutting down women, or gays for that matter, as long as it doesn’t affect our family values or they don’t attack our integrity and self respect they can go on about their lives without influencing the young. Most Armenian women that I know will have no respect if men acted the way some of you describe. That is so unnatural not only because we are Armenians with strong traditions and of our learned good values but also we are genetically designed. Don’t mess with Mother Nature. Sorry but I am a simple guy and I believe in God and this is not what he had in mind.

Pedro buddy, didn’t Freud experiment with all types of mind altering drugs (PCP) to enhance his understanding of human mind?

That's exactly the point... people can do whatever they wish but when they step on Armenian soil, they should live by Armenian values. A country can't have people from other countries running the show, which is what these special interest groups try to do.

That's what people exactly fails to do. When people (specially Westeners) go to another country (poor countries, Eastern countries), they expect its society to mold with their values and understand them...but if a people who is not from the West of has no Western values goes to their countries, they can't tolerate them to behave as they do in the homelands...they have to mold to THEIR society. Once again, double standards

There may be double standards but all values in all societies are subject to change. The advantage we humans have over other animals is our versitility-the ability to adapt and we have changed our values accordingly many times over. The role of a woman has changed many times over in many societies and will continue to do so, this is completely natural. Human behavior is not set in stone and doing so compromises our ability to survive.

You're right, but I was referring to the double standards applies by some people when they think their better.

The roles are always changing, and as you said it is natural for it to happen. As of today a woman has to become more independent, because sometimes she acts not only as the raiser of the family but also as the provider.

So what don't you go preach this in Turkey and Azerbaijan who are pumping out armies and armies of kids instead of Armenia whose population is dwindling?

You do not raise a countries population by limiting women to motherhood because they will get the hell out if you do that. Armenia needs a better standard of living and security for it to grow its population and women can play a important role besides the mother one.

So what do you suggest? Armenia have all the men adopt children from Haiti and raise them? Or maybe just toss a couple embryos in a jar and watch them grow? Have you ever watched animal planet? There is this thing called re-pro-duc-tion. It's pretty cool, you can actually increase the population from having sex and caring for the offspring. It's not only fun, but it's something the whole nation can do. It's a novel idea.

Yeh but you need those people to be able to make a living there so they can keep living and reproducing there. Waving the tricolors wont feed the family. We need to improve our economy and society and we need peace to do it in. I have been saying for a long time now the key to our success as a nation is for us in the diaspora to make personal connections with Armenia. I have been over this already many times. The more accepting a society is the more it will grow. By accepting people from different walks of life without prejudging them you will see many diasporans and many otars moving to Armenia. This influx of immigrants plus the natural reproduction since people will be staying instead of leaving will allow our population and country to grow and strengthen.
